Since my ex moved out I no longer have the luxury of using the extra car for normal errands and range trips. That leaves me with only my 2015 Corvette, and a motorcycle. While these are fun they aren't practical in all situations so I am looking for a car for errands, range trips, and infrequent trips to Ohio from NC. The last time I picked a daily driver type car I ended up with a 2013 Chevy Impala, I might just get another one but I think it would be a good (if not at least entertaining) exercise to hear what GD recommends. My requirements are: $14k or under Newer the better, preferably certified used with some warranty left Decent gas mileage Big trunk/cargo area for rifles and shit I make YouTube gun videos with Automatic trans I prefer to buy American cars. The 2013 Impala has the newer 3.6 DI engine and got over 32mpg highway and it was actually pretty quick, but even the 3.5 in those is pretty damn good. I test drove a 2014 Focus and a 2015 Cruze a few weeks ago, they felt pretty "shitbox" to me. Small and rattly, not smooth like a bigger car does. I wouldn't be opposed to a truck if they didn't suck on gas. What do you guys think? Any options better than another Impala? |

While I am biased you can probably pick up a certified Fusion for close to that money in a 2013. I've had 3. A 2006 SE, 2009 SEL and just recently a 2013 SE. Huge trunk, high 20s for gas mileage, decent options depending on what trim level you get. I put 100,000 on the first two with very little issues.

Newest Toyota Corolla/Honda Civic your budget will allow.... This...stick with one owner, non smoker, female driver....Japanese motors will go 300-400,000 miles with nothing but oil changes. And I would recommend paying for a pre "buy" inspection just for peace of mind. Car faxes are not full proof and they will miss things like flood damage, or small accidents. |

Quoted: OP isn't asking a lot for $14k. ![]() 39k miles, certified pre-owned so I got an additional 12k/1year on top of the factory warranty, 32mpg on the highway, massive trunk, quiet and comfortable, and had really good acceleration. Cheap maintenance parts because they're fleet vehicles, taxis, and cop cars. I'm just exploring options to see if there is something better, but I spent a lot of time researching last time around and that was the conclusion I came to. |

Well, considering how shitty Fords and Chevys are these days... and Chysler crap has always been...
Get a Nissan, Toyota, or Honda and ignore the "Buy American" bullshit from the UAW. My "jap" car was built in the US and has more US parts than the last Ford I owned. |

If you were going brand new, or within last couple of years new, i would definitely recommend Ford or Chevy. They are really putting out some great stuff now.
For the year and price range you'll be in, probably best bet is Accord or Camry, as others have noted. Bland, yes, but reliable. Don't overlook Kia or Hyundai either. People still like to act like it's the 90's and they are POS's, but that's just not the case anymore. |

Quoted: Concur with the Corolla and Civic comments, also if you can get over the gayness the Fit has quite a bit of cargo space with the back seats down. That Civic doesnt look to bad but if you shop around might find one with a little less milage. |
