[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Anyone need 22LR? (Page 1 of 3)

Because it seems every time I go in a random Wal-Mart, there is plenty.

This is my haul from 7/20

2000 rounds of the Winchester M22 -  5.09 cents per round.
325 rounds of Federal Automatch - 5.36 cents per round.

Update 7/25:  Went to meet friends for a movie.  There was a WalMart I pass on the way home.  Stopped in.  This was today's haul:

1750 rounds of the good CCI standard velocity 40gr - 6.94 cents per round
555 cheap winchester - 5.02 cents per round.

Update 7/30:  Had to meet a contractor at my rental property.  There is a walmart over there, so I dropped in on my way home, on a Saturday.

1650 rounds of the good CCI standard velocity 40gr - 6.94 cents per round
555 cheap winchester - 5.02 cents per round.

Update 8/1:  Stopped by a new one.  They enforced the three box limit.

Update 8/3 and 8/4:  They were limiting me to 3 bricks of 500 each per day.

3000 rounds.

Update 8/17:  My wife went to WalMart and got 3 bricks (1500 rounds) of CCI standard velocity for me, for my birthday.    No pics... but she also get me those ammo cans on sale at Costco.  Score!

We haven't had any here in years.
Cabellas always seems to have some. Not China-Mart

There's never anything here, whether it's Walmart or any place else. Been that way for a few years now.

I've seen 22LR in plentiful supply at $65 a brick of 333 or maybe a little more for a 500 brick.

I pretty much just have to hand-load center fire now, because it's easier overall, and typically less expensive.

It's sad, because I got my gemtech mist 22 form 4 approved 2-3 months back.

In four years, at any area Walmart, I've only been able to buy one brick of .22lr. It was a box of Thunderbolts.   The only way i lucked into it was beause i asked the clerk if he had any.  He had that one box.  I bought it.  The only other local retailer that has some at a decent price is Academy.

Looking in the wrong Walmarts?
Albany had a few boxes of Federal the other day. Tigard had a few thousand rounds of Thunderbolt on the shelf.

All the employees at my local walmart pick the shipment clean as soon as it comes off the truck. Haven't seen 22 at walmart other than in the employees shopping bags since 2012.

Don't see it at any of the DFW Walmarts.

Never see it locally at Walmart.  Bi-Mart very occasionally has some but it disappears same day.  What I do have I'm saving till my daughter is old enough to start shooting. Ironically it might actually be plentiful by then.  Nah, who am I kidding.

I said Walmart or any place else. That means any other stores, and gun shops. It's been a rimfire ammo desert around here for years.

I don't get up that far north.

Thats a really good price for the automatch, and the winchester. Not up to speed on the .22 short prices.

What Walmart?

There's not been any on the shelves here for 3 years. Academy has had it but the neckbeards are still a real thing. It is bought out as soon as the doors open.

I have about 10K rounds of Thunderbolt with some Browning and Federal TGP thrown in. I just try to stop by a Wally World of Academy once a week to see if they have any. If they do, just one box.

Once a week plus no time to shoot adds up quick.

I pick up a bunch every time I get to El Paso.
Nothing here around me in AZ unless you want to pay neckbeard prices.

Always looking for CCI 22quiet, and the nonexistent Remington Cbee.

The quiet came around for a short time, but it's back to MIA status here again.

Austin but I've hit Walmart in Round Rock, Georgetown, Pville,  Leander... no .22 to be had.

I'm not hurting for any,  not too bad, but most of what I have is bulk Winchester.  I hesitate to shoot my CCI stash anymore.

Check Academy's on Thursdays or, even better if possible, hit up the newest Academys. There was a new store that was my consistent source for about two months -- 8x500 = 4000 more than I had.

Haven't been shooting a lot lately, but when I do hit up my LGS they seem to have .22lr in stock at decent prices. (haven't bought any .22lr in at least a year though)

Great price but I'm good. Thanks to the ARFCOM Wizards of Rimfire, I have more stockpiled now then I have ever shot in my life.

And I see it all over, all the time, at the DFW Walmarts.

I think the people who "never see it".... don't look very often.

Sure, it is out of stock more often than in stock.  When they get it - it doesn't last long.  However, I still find it all the time.  But then, I actually make a point to go look on a regular basis.

went grocery shopping on monday and got two boxes of the federal target grade boxes. i'm renovating my ammo fort to add french doors and archway doors so i needed some keystone blocks for the arches.

Neckbeards still scarfing up all stock promptly as soon as it's put on the shelf here in the Tulsa area, or so says my local Wally World sporting goods department clerk.

They get there before dawn (...because they don't have JOBS to go to), get a cup of coffee at the Mickey-Dee's in the front of the store, wander back to the ammo counter, open up a new folding camp chair, and patiently wait sitting in the aisle for the boxes to go up as soon as the truck arrives.

Clerk said he started charging them for the camp chairs they open and don't put back. They have to go to the front desk to get a refund on the camp chairs.

Thank God for my local gun shop owner. He keeps a stash in the backroom for his regular customers...and none of that Thunderbolt crap.

that's how it is for me, too.

I buy Perfecta 9mm once or twice a week.

I look for .22 every time, while I'm there.
I have bought .22 one time in the past 3-4 years (at Walmart).
