Just started seeing some promotion online for their 3rd Party run.

I admit the video is pretty well done.

IMO we can't risk a 3rd party vote right now because it might put Hitlery in office, but if these guys are to be taken at face value, I'm on board.

What's the scoop on these guys?

Overall good guys with a real chance to bring the LP into mainstream.  I think we should be supporting them over Trump, IMO.

A lot better than anything else Johnson has put out.  That was a good pitch.  If Christie gets the VP nod the Libertarians are easily going to get to that 15% number.

Then Weld addresses the controversy over his previous gun control positions:

"I am a lifelong hunter and gun owner. In 1993, however, as Governor of Massachusetts, I went along with some modest restrictions on certain types of firearms. I was deeply concerned about gun violence, and frankly, the people I represented were demanding action. Sometimes, governing involves tough choices, and I had to make more than a few.

Today, almost 25 years later, I would make some different choices. Restricting Americans’ gun rights doesn’t make us safer, and threatens our constitutional freedoms. I was pleased by and support the Supreme Court’s decision in the District of Columbia vs. Heller -- a decision that embraced the notion that our Second Amendment rights are individual rights, not to be abridged by the government."

No.  He knows he made a mistake.  What makes Trump change of attitude on guns more sincere?  I'm calling the gun issue a tie between the two parties this year.  But Johnson/Weld are better on all the other issues, so the choice is obvious to me.

Also, getting millions of Americans to google the term "Libertarian" this year is a huge step in the right direction for this country.

I was really impressed by that ad.

I think a lot of low information voters may see that and just go "why not?".

But ultimately it always comes down the the electoral map.  I don't see them swinging any states or getting one outright.

Honestly though, if the election came down to just my one vote and I had to choose among the three, I'd vote for Johnson, he actually is the better candidate.

Who but The Mango and his Mangoheads could bring the two of us into such a semblance of alignment?

Your refusal to fall under the Mango spell has massively changed my opinion of your consistency.

Who could ever have predicted that a progressive Democrat from NYC could glamor so many "republicans" and "right-wingers" into thinking he was a Republican? He is, indeed, a master salesman. He pandered his way right into their panties.

Nevertheless, this glamoring puts the final nail in the coffin of the "cm is TBK1's sock puppet" business. (Unless it really is you, and you are conducting some serious psyops by having cm act as your Mangohead doppelgänger.)

Kind of where my head is at.

Also, when has a VP created policy in an administration?

I will vote for Johnson, IMO, my vote does more good lending one tiny bit of credibility to the LP then it would being wasted by voting for Trump in a state (California) has zero chance in going to him in this election.

ETA: If by some miracle polling indicated that Trump has a chance in CA, I would think long and hard about voting for him. But I am pretty confident that isn't going to happen.

The timing is good.  Like another poster said they have a real chance to take the LP into the mainstream.

Weld has a slightly spotty record on gun rights - hopefully they can realize that gun owners are a natural place where they align.

If their poll numbers start to go up and it looks they stand a shot then  I am voting Johnson/Weld.

HOWEVER - aside from policy (where they are mostly right) they have some real issues.  Like, do they actually want to win?  The CNN Town  Hall last week was atrocious.  It was really bad for a number of reasons, confusing (like why were both of them presented, a team effort? WTF  - only one of you is running for president), they didn't anticipate the questions about drug policy (duh), they fell into stupid reporter tricks from Chris Cuomo.  They said nothing but nice things about their opponents (except Trump, whom they called a Huckster - which was really dumb).  It was bad.    This video is good on the other hand.  We'll see.

Except 2 months ago he was on Jake Tappers show and doubled down on derp saying if it's a hunting gun it's ok, but if it doesn't serve a hunting purpose he's ok banning it.

ahhhh he evolved

At least he doesn't evolve through several positions during the course of one speech, like Trump. And the Veep doesn't set the agenda.
