He's raising almost no money. He has no ground game. His campaign is in disarray.

I think we have been fucked. Populism only works when you can afford to keep it up. Hillary raises $24m, Trump raises $2m.

See the problem?

Most of the people talking that garbage on the Republican side are Republicans who have a vested interest in getting hired, skimming money from campaign via ad buys or being paid fundraisers. Donald Trump got more media attention with his Crooked Lying Hillary speech then in all the ads Hillary had bought to run ads against him for the last two weeks.

It most matters to the people who are angry at Trump because THEY have to speed 20-30 hour a week raising money to get on tv to get their message out. When it comes time (ie after the Convention) he will probably raise money, he will just not promise his grandchildren and his favorite testicle to do it.

He picks a female Latino for VP that gives speeches in Spanish about how Trump is going to help all Hispanics, whether they are in the country legally or not, get good jobs and free health care and free college and they will all get to live the American Dream.

Meanwhile Trump just tells the horrible, lying, pandering, influence-peddling, murderous truth about Hillary.

Trump wins in a landslide!!!

ETA:  Beat me by 30 seconds....
6/26/2016 6:34:16 PM EDT

He beat out a milquetoast group fielded by the RNC and will go up against someone who has been effectively campaigning as the presumptive DNC nominee for 3 years.  Someone with incalculable ties to power brokers who will say anything to get a vote.  Someone who is perceived by the average American to be much more moderate.  Someone with 1000 staffers, while trump has about 5.

It's not necessarily trumps fault, the RNC should have been able to field a better group, and should have been grooming someone for this moment since 2014 like the DNC has been doing with clinton.  Even if that person was Trump.  They thought Jeb would be a good candidate, and gave him no message, no angle, no strategic support.   The outsider candidates did better than the RNC fellas, and the RNC put it's head in the sand.  Look how far Ben Carson got, FFS.  Ben Carson beat out Jeb.  This also served as a lesson that a party should not run 16 candidates
The DNC put up Hilary and two tomato cans, Hilary just happens to be so unlikable that one of those two tomato cans did much better than expected.

It doesn't look good, he needs to increase his public perception of likability, has to increase his moderate rhetoric (as all winning candidates do), and various other things.

It will be very important to keep Congress.

According to RCP trump got a shade over 13 million.  Hillary got 15 million in the primary.

So where is trump getting the 55 million additional votes he needs to beat hillary in the general when his unfavorable rating are higher than hers, the party is in disarray, and he can't seem to make any kind of headway in terms of funding or GOTV organization?

Trump wins by getting Republicans to support him and turn out to vote. The race is pretty much a tie right now despite Trump's large unfavorable ratings(the polls you see oversample dems by 50-70% margins). The Democrats Like Hillary only slightly less than the Republicans like Trump, so a small swing in turnout or support is all that's needed.

The money issue is not relevant. Trump does not need to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to get his message out.

There is obvious merit to the argument that more candidates = fewer votes for any specific candidate.

Be that as it may.

The odds lean in Hillary's favor, mostly because she isn't Trump. However, she is an extraordinarily weak candidate, and Trump certainly has a chance of winning. The road ahead looks pretty tough, though - I'd give him a one in three shot.
