[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Arsenal Status (Page 1 of 2)

We constantly hear in the media about "an arsenal of weapons was seized".  My question to the board:  How many guns to I need to own to reach Arsenal Status?  I think its good to have goals in one's life and Arsenal Status seems as good as any.

I've heard as few as two guns described as an arsenal but I think we can agree that's too low. Ten guns?  Twenty?

Maybe we could get Arsenal Status bumper stickers.  Or an Arsenal Club.  T-shirts even.

3+ qualifies you in this day and age.

Depends on the state, I suppose.

In Texas, you'd probably need crew served weaponry and an actual explosives magazine to qualify.

In NY, you just need a few BB guns and a katana.

A 10/22 and a sandwich size ziplock of ammo

A powerline 880 pumped 12 times with 10  bb's and a tasco scope.
And a PB&J Sammich for when SHTF.

Are you kidding.   You're average lib would shit kittens seeing some of the guns and ammo stashes on here.  In the media rimfire rifle and brick of .22 is an arsenal.

I remember when the Crime bill (aka 94 AWB) was being written the libs wanted to have an arsenal tax for anyone over (I think it was) 10 guns or over 1000 rounds of ammo. One of my buddies said "a thousand rounds of ammo? I got more than that rolling around loose in my truck".

In NY or NJ it's only a matter of having a bottle opened made out of a .50 caliber bullet that puts you in the, "Having an arsenal" status. You don't actually need to own any guns.

We've already got a club. If you have enough guns, you automatically get an invite. So just keep buying and eventually you will get there.

This is from our last club meeting. The t-shirts are cool.

A couple of 10/22 rifles and a few bricks of ammo would be reported as

AN ARSENAL OF SEMIAUTOMATIC RIFLES AND THOUSANDS OF ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION

"armed to the teeth"
"huge collection of dangerous weapons"
"LEO's worst nightmare"
"biggest seizure of weapons in town's history"

From THISstory where they seized two ARs, a handgun and an upper.

One handgun, one rifle, tons of mags and accessories to spread out on table to make it look even more menacing than it really is.

I did a thread many moons back trying to set numerical quantities to establish the difference between "a few guns" , a Gun Collection, and an Arsenal.

No consensus was reached.

Can one of the experts here define the following then-

Collection-

Cache-

Arsenal-

Stockpile-

I say I have a firearms collection(100ish firearms).

It's funny to hear my daughters reaction sometimes to the news when reports are about arsenals, and caches of ammunition.    She has no idea sometimes.

Yes, a stockpile is clearly smaller than an arsenal.  I thought everyone knew that.  Collection, stash, stockpile, arsenal.  We won't get into shit load just yet.  That's another discussion.

I'll feel comfortable once I reach "depot" or "dump" (as in "ammo dump") status.

Until then I feel vulnerable.

UPS delivered one more arsenal to me yesterday based on that crime bill definition.

I thought arsenal implied some production capability while armory implied repair capability.  Cache was long term storage.

I prefer the more elegant and descriptive term 'metric shitload' when describing a collection of weapons that is more than I own.

Well then how much is a fuck-ton? Is that more or less than a shit-load? Where does shit-ton and ass-load fall into the scheme of things?

I've been described as having a shit-load of firearms. Is that more or less than an arsenal?

Depot is too easily confused with a train depot.  Dump, well, that's just not going to work for obvious reasons.

My -personal- and completely arbitrary numbers would be:

Stash- at least 2, but usually in a hidden location

Cache- Again at least 2, but with ammo and sealed for long term, off-site storage

Collection 10-1000, preferably with themes. I.e; "This is my Old West collection, and there's my British Arms collection, and there's my US Military arms collection..."

Arsenal- 1,000+ With parts, ammo, and tools to support all.

Fuck-Ton- so many guns that no accurate count can be undertaken. Floors buckle, walkways are scarce, and no wall is visible through the heaps of firearms

Fuck-Tonne- the metric version of above.

Depends... Metric shitload is slightly less than a fuckton.  Buttload is significantly less and generally reserved for smaller, concealable weapons.

Do we include the fudd guns and shotguns in the count?

I would propose the following for discussion:

1-2 guns, <250 rds ammo - Little Tyke "My first tool kit"

3-5 guns, <1000 rds ammo - Arfcom Starter Pack

6-10 guns, <2500 rds ammo - Basement Ranger

11-15 guns, <5000 rds ammo -  Domestic Terrorist

16-20 guns, <7500 rds ammo - Help me hide this shit from my wife

21-25 guns, >10000 but <15000 rds ammo - I just divorced my wife

26-30 guns, >15000 but <20000 rds ammo - Tribal Warlord

31-35 guns, >20000 rds ammo - Space Shuttle Door Gunner

35+ guns, >20000 rds ammo - Master of all I survey

Any NFA items add "The coolest mother-fucker at the range" to any catagory
