Nice hook-ups, OP. Was hoping to get an idea of the size of some of those fish but hard to tell since you were focusing on the strikes.
The Gold Medal portions of the Arkansas River here in my A.O. are completely unfishable right now as we're in peak runoff for the next several weeks. It's running about 3590 cfs just a few miles below us, right now. Considered high, dangerous, roily and turbid. Thanks for posting! |

But those are pretty nice. |

My guess is his trout were Rainbows which can survive in salt water and are known as "steelhead". OP, that looks like some awesome fishing. It's nice when you can wade into the river like that and have a lot of space for casting. I used to fly fish the White River in VT a lot and still do so here. Fly fishing is highly addictive. Any idea on water temperature? If you missed it, I'm raising some Rainbows in my aquaponics system. I throw everything from ants to moths in there and they love it.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this, but it hasn't been proven that fishing is better than work. There is still a lot more study needed before we can draw any firm conclusion. When I checked the fishing report this morning, it was headed with the words "Crazy Time". I made my excuses and was out of there by 11. This video illustrates why one should fish with a click-pawl reel. I learned this lesson a couple seasons back when I caught two 20" rainbows back-to-back and was appalled at the amount of line that left the reel without so much as a "by your leave, Sir." |
