One just slammed into the gate at the apartment complex next door. Flat tires, cracked radiator, airbags deployed. Absolutely wrecked the gate.
Dude backs up and tries to drive away. Called police but he took off pretty quick. I heard the tires flapping as he drove down the road. That is all. |

Even if he had hit people or occupied vehicles...you do realize that the vast majority of window-lickers around here believe that DUI/DWI is a victimless crime, right?

a bunch of assholes are about to pile in and say it's fine, nobody really gets hurt, and it's a made up crime, but I hate them to. I can't see the difference between a drunk driver and someone who fires a gun into a crowd figuring they might get lucky and not hit anyone.
they REALLY upset my wife, he Grandfather was killed right outside her house day before Christmas eve when she was eight by a drunk. They heard the bang, and her dad and her went out there to see her Grandpa's car, her dad's dad, smashed in half and some drunk asshole wandering around. he had presents in the car I hate drunk drivers. |

Not victimless when there is property damage. Only victimless when there is no victim, which actually happens more often than not. Quoted:

Victimless, bruh. Do you hate freedumb? Not victimless when there is property damage. Only victimless when there is no victim, which actually happens more often than not. Precisely. I'm not sure if people mocking victimless crime are just "special" or being intentionally ignorant. Either way it does not indicate a very high IQ. tl;dr if you drive drunk and cause an accident, there is a victim. It's a crime. If you drive drunk and make it home safely (like most drunk drivers), there are no victims making it a victimless crime. |

In before its an illegal and they just send him back south of the border In AZ? There is a pretty good chance of that, they love to do the old drunken hit and run. If they do catch him they will probably just let him go, laws don't seem to apply to them. |

If you had to choose between standing in a crowd while someone fires a gun into that crowd, or driving to Walmart at 1am on January 1st, which would you choose? Yeah, that's what I thought. |

It wasn't very popular. I should be in prison for the rest of my life for what I've done |

I call in everytime I see one (A drunk). I "KNOW", it's none of my business when I'm following some fucktard who can't keep his/her car in a single lane on the trip home from the bar. Slam your drunk ass into a vehicle full of a mom and kids....NO. I wanna see your ass pulled over and stopped before you have the chance to hurt someone. |

In this case, it's because the idea of drunk driving causes a lot of angry emotions, and justifiably so. But I've also seen some of these same folks take issue when someone says not wearing a seatbelt is a victimless crime. |

Illegal gets drunk and starts yelling "ehfuck Donal Trohm!!" and smashing every wall he can see.. he's still an asshole but come on that's funny. |

Good friend of my cousin was killed by a DD. Third in a line of three cars headed down the road together on a trip. Drunk coming the other way clipped the first car, veered to the shoulder, over-corrected back over the line, and hit his car head-on. He was killed instantly. Drunk survived, of course. |

This is like saying russian roulette is totally safe except for when a round goes off. |

I hate human error, I hate human stupidity, I hate I hate I hate...but this is reality. If you want your perfect world stick to living in a basement.
If I saw a bigger push for self driving cars and less bitching about drunk drivers I might actually respect half the people in this thread, but you guys don't want solutions you just want to bitch. |

Change the way that it's illegal and both camps can win.
Don't hurt anyone and make it home, no foul. Hit anything and anyone, it's a first degree planned on doing what you did. Example: Remove vehicular homicide and insert first degree murder if the offender was drunk driving. Changing when they t-bone a car to 1st degree attempted murder would give the drunk time in prison to think about their drinking problem. This simple change will get the more rational people to finally stop spinning the cylinder with the Russian roulette AND it will do something that puts the idiot repeat offenders away. |
