Thoughts? Between this and a new Fit for a new DD. Would rather have bewst though. Budget is 20-22k. |

With that budget I would get a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. ETA: the new Civics are assembled in the U.S. Not sure about the Fiesta ST, but my Focus ST was assembled in MI. Not the Dearborn plant, but nearby. OP: I've heard very good things about the Fiesta ST. I've never driven one, but I've seen a few get around the auto-x track pretty quickly. I think they're good DD's if you aren't carpooling a bunch of people because they're quite small. The turbo will let you have a lot of fun though |

I haven't read anything negative on the ST so far, plus people seem to enjoy building them. Also, its one of the few fun looking cars thats new that doesnt cost an arm and a leg it seems. True. At the end of the year LP is going to be getting a Fiesta for his DD most likely. |
| Fiesta or Focus ST can both be had in that price range either new or lightly used. If you want more p0war the Focus ST is going to be more up your alley. More room for cargo in the back too. If you want a fun little hot hatch the Fiesta ST is a hoot too. The CTO of my previous company owned one and my wife test drove both and preferred the Fiesta because of it's smaller size and nimbler feeling. I preferred the Focus for the extra room and bigger engine/boost/torks. I'd test drive them both. |

I thought about one. I like good gas mileage and supposedly this model has been in Europe for years before the US, so hopefully most bugs are worked out.
I then looked at a Honda Fit, but when I looked at the Civic at the same time, it actually got better MPG than the Fit, despite being a bigger vehicle, so I chose the Civic. |

Quoted: Good buddy of mine got one as a DD. He likes it a lot; the thing is totally a go-kart with a turbocharger. Get's great mileage, is easy to drive/park around town, and the power to weight ratio is pretty good. I had mine for almost 2 years now and it's a blast to drive , especially on windy back roads. Mileage varied from 25mpg to 35mpg depending on how hard you are on the engine. The only drawback I can comment on are the stock Bridgestone Potenzas had to be replaced around 23k. They wear out fast, and it's not fun driving the car in rainy weather. |

Wouldn't mine some Pilot SuperSports though. |

The bridgestones on my car were summer compound tires. Also optional performance brakes with low-dust brake pads . My silver wheels would turn black from all the brake dust buildup. Have not replaced the pads yet though. |

Their all-season performance tires are the Goodyear F1's. I picked my ST3 FoST used and yeah... the wheels are the Rado grey but they turn a nasty dark grey powdery color after a day or two of regular driving. I need to change the pads. |
| I have a Fiesta ST and out of all the cars I have driven it is my absolute favorite. Great gas mileage nice and quick in the turns and plenty fast enough in the straights to get you in trouble. I haven't had any problems with it and I got close to 20000 miles on it. I test drove this and a WRX the same day and I came home with this. I bought mine for $20,000 brand new with 0% interest from ford. It's quite simply the best car for the money. Mine is a daily driver. The only thing that is bad is it is a rough ride but it's a cheap performance car so you get what you pay for. |

My 2016 Focus ST has the "High performance all season tires" option on it and it shipped with Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires. |

About to tick over 10k on my wife's EX Turbo. 41 mpg solid. Fucking thing kicks ass. Has a lot more power than you would expect for a sedan with only a 1.5 liter engine. Can't recommend the car enough. |

I rented a fiesta two years ago and drove it a few hundred miles. What a gutless wonder. I think my wife's first car (1997 Sentra) was faster. And bigger. If you buy one, I hope it resembles nothing of the slightly older fiesta I drove. Not the same thing what so ever |

People who bitch about torque steer are either bitches, or pre-teen girls.
Also, I'm fairly sure that the Fiesta uses equal length drive shafts, so there won't be any torque steer to fight off with your obviously t-rex proportioned arms.

Midget sized things. Wrong wheel drive. T-t-t-t TORQUE STEER!!! What's not to hate?
If you can tack on a little more to your budget. you can get into a WRX. The 15+ are actually pretty big. People who bitch about torque steer are either bitches, or pre-teen girls.

It's taken me a couple of days to get to this... I'm the guy Mike mentioned above.
I've got a '14 Fiesta ST and love that thing. While I've never owned any really sporty cars like a Vette or similar, I’ve had Mustangs, a turbo Subaru, etc. The ST is easily the most fun car I've ever driven. It's not the quickest car on the road, but it'll move out. Where the ST really shines is the handling. With what Ford has done with the traction control etc. all of the youtube videos are spot on. They really did a hell of a job tricking the car into acting like it's RWD and while I’ve never been a huge Bridgestone fan but the factory summer Bridgestones drive very well. Just don’t expect them to last very long. The Focus is a lot more car, but all of the reviews seemed to favor the Fiesta from a drivers perspective. Mine was a lease return with 4800 miles and I got it for $15,900 back in November. Only significant options it doesn’t have are the Recaro seats ($2k more and they’re cramped) and the moonroof. As for the FIT vs ST, they’re totally different animals. If you wanted to haul gear around and get good economy, the FIT is your car. The Fiesta ST has minimal space and the MPG’s aren’t there. In mixed driving with my foot in it all the time, I’m getting right at 25 MPG. It’ll do better if you’re not heavy into the boost or if you get out on the highway for a stretch. The other thing to remember is that this is the cheapest car Ford makes. The interior on these things is basic and has a lot of plastic. None of these are negatives necessarily, it’s just so you know what you’re getting. Haul stuff = FIT. Driver fun = Fiesta ST. |

I have a Fiesta ST and a Focus ST.
People commenting above about a honda, toyota or base mazda 3 dont know cars....period. The Fiesta ST was Top Car's "car of the year" for a reason. It's really really fing awesome and fun. You will out handle and drive 90% of the other cars out there that you will encounter. It's not hard to get Porsche power/weight ratio out of one. Get one. Most fun car Ive ever owned and I change cars usually every 2-3 years. |
apparently I'm too tall.
