[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Jeep doing 180mph (Page 1 of 2)

All that power and weight makes me wonder what kind of transmission they're using to survive the kinds of forces put through it. |

W5A580 or NAG1 Mercedes 5 speed transmission..same transmission that Porsche used in the 1998 to 2005 911 and can also be found in the Jeep Wranglers. They can handle 800hp all day long, 1400 hp...not sure about that. |

FOR SALE! Who's got 250k burning a hole in their back pocket? |
|
Ahhh, I'm going with the Z06 that was DESIGNED for that performance level. Want nothing to do with Jeep death traps using compromised suspension components. |
|
WTH racetrack let him drive that thing without a full cage and seetbelts? I had to quit racing my 69 Firebird because it was fast enough that they required a full roll cage be installed and I did not want to cut up my car to do it. |

Originally posted by most of ARFCom:Sport trucks are stupid, what is the point. That is the point right there. If someone has to explain unnaturally fast or good handling things to you, or the concept of a sleeper, I dunno, I guess the whole gearhead thing is just lost on you. |

I posted a thread here last year when this happened.
High speed and Jeep are mutually exclusive concepts. Yes, he was very dead on impact.

The SRT-massaged Jeep Grand Cherokee is the kind of performance SUV that loads its driver with tons of confidence, appearing to be indestructible. Unfortunately, sometimes drivers rely too much on this and it can lead to situations such as the one we’re here to discuss. A Grand Cherokee SRT8 was involved in one of the oddest accidents we’ve seen all year. At first sight, it might look like this is one of those SUVs that visited an auto shop to get both a slam and a chop job. Alas, the Grand Cherokee ended up like this after it got wedged under a Los Angeles freeway ramp on Saturday morning. The Jeep was traveling from the northbound Golden State Freeway to the eastbound San Bernadino Freeway in Boyle Heights. The bizarre accident saw the Jeep getting airborne According to the California Highway Patrol, the SUV first jumped an embarkment and then went under the bridge. While it’s difficult to assess the initial speed of the SRT8 without the official details, it’s obvious that the vehicle carried quite some momentum. |

Wait until they build the Trackhawk, Hellcat motor AND all wheel drive.
