Not just for women anymore?
I've always been a large shirt size and 32x32 in pants. My measurements haven't changed. If anything I've gotten a little more "robust" in my old age.
So yesterday I went shopping for button down shirts and some gym shorts. I dont shop for clothes very often so its been a couple years. All of a sudden large shirts fit like a tent south of my chest so I end up going with mediums at Eddie Bauer. Then I tried to find some standard mesh gym shorts. I've always been a medium. Now most medium shorts go to my shins and I could fit two or three of my legs through each leg hole. WTF? Hip hop culture or "generous sizing" for fatties? Are American males now so fat on average that manufacturers need to shift the entire scale just to stroke their egos? |

Actually, of course this depends on the brand, but I think it's going the other way. Everything is now "Muscle Fit" or "Athletic Fit" so a shirt from Brand X that I bought 3 years ago in XL and fits perfect is now considered a XXL by the same Brand.
I also think that whoever is actually manufacturing these clothes need to look at a tape measure once in awhile. How I can buy two pair of shorts, same brand, same "cut", "fit", or "style" - only difference being the color, in a 36" waist and one pair I can't get buttoned and the other I can't keep up without a belt. There are clearly several inches difference in the actual measurement of 36".... Ridiculous.

Your inseam has to be bigger than your gut size. |

I find clothes sizing to be completely fucked up. I can buy two pairs of pants for work. Same brand. Same cut/fit. Same size. One will fit as expected, one will be too small in some way. Shit is annoying as I hate hate hate shopping for clothes. According to my Mother, stacks of material are cut with a laser for the same size. As the laser cuts deeper, it get more spead out. Hence same lot, different size. |

Seek your safe space. I'm a big advocate for a governing agency on the correct sizing of clothes. I am normally opposed to more government....but this issue can not be ignored. I want to be able to measure myself, and order my pants, not have to go try them all on like a woman at the mall. |

The donald is as opposed to ill fitting slacks as you and I are. |

i dare you guys to actually pull out a tape measure and see what the reality is compared to numbers on the clothes. especially the waist # I have a 33" waist by the tape. That's not really the point though. The longer I buy clothes the smaller they tell me I am. If anything I'm spreading out a bit. |

Shit is annoying as I hate hate hate shopping for clothes. Jeans are horrible like that. If I order 3-4 pairs of Levis on Amazon, I can usually count on having to send 1-2 back. Someone explained it to me as the sizes are cut by a huge press/cutter and the placement of the fabric in the cutter causes the ones on the top to be sized true and the ones lower down to be a tad oversized because of how the machine compresses them as they cut. Not sure if T shirts are the same but I used to always wear a large T shirt, now I find a lot of larges that are "daddy sized" as in they make me look like a 10 year old wearing my dad's shirts. So I order mediums and take the chance that it looks like I stole my GFs clothes or I am a wannabe dudebro wearing skin tight shirts. Hey 'Murica, stop getting fat and stop complaining about your feels, it makes it hard for us normal sized folks to get clothes that fit..... Thanks. |
