I bought one of these today in 223. Well, won a GB auction. Rossi Youth Single Shot. 22" barrel, 1 in 12 twist. Going to shoot groundhogs on my property with it. I live in PA. No semi autos. 3 round max loaded. I will be shooting them with this 50grain https://media.midwayusa.com/productimages/880x660/Primary/866/866317.jpg Wouldn't a 1:12 twist be a little slow for 50gr bullets? |

I wouldn't shoot deer with it, but I dunno, the M16A1 was 1:12 and shot 55gr. |

Nice shootin! Thanks, but I admit that I let a dental student (former marine) shoot that group when he was just entering dental school. After 4 years, his groups opened up to be like mine. I'm more proud of the reloading. That was mine. Here's mine (same gun, benchrest target), 0.132 CTC (fair, not good, but I'm old)

My guy I know SBR'd one (8 or 9 inch), talk about a stupid short little gun. He literally keeps it in his glovebox in his truck and has some short fat can on a trilug iirc |

H&R Handi Rifle in .45-70. I have a Shiloh Sharps in .45-70 on order that should be coming in the next 7 weeks. You bastards in that thread convinced me to buy one.
Figured if I was spending that much already I might as well drop the extra $200 to cut years off the waiting list |

I'm awful tempted to pick up an Encore Katadhin in .460 S&W, since I have a large supply of .452" cast lead bullets on hand that I can no longer shoot in handguns. Slap a reflex sight on top, load up some ammo and go make great big holes in stuff. ![]() Them are great shooters out to 300 yards and just hammer animals. |

I have a Walther Sportmodell in .22 LR. Father got it Germany during the 1950's. Sadly, the gent he got it from had drilled and tapped it (rather badly) for a scope. When I was training as a gunsmith, we filled in the old holes and drilled for new bases. It is very accurate. Used it to shoot Rimfire Silhouette for a while. Now it gets fed RWS Dynamit Nobel Acorns (short case, priming charge, and a lead roundball) for backyard mousing and the occassional squirrel. |
