Mission successful, good for another five years. Food in my belly finally. Life is good. If you're over 50 I recommend this procedure, even though it really sucks.
Propofol for the win. Out like a light and wake right up. ETA Spelling |

motherfuckers can do knee surgery using itty bitty bits and pieces through a damn tube in one spot, and they still have to shove a camera on the end of a hose up your ass to look for cancer.....
jesus i hope they figure something else out here in the next few years before i get to that age... |

I have had a few in my life first one only a valium watched the whole procedure on the monitor along with the doc. Worse part is always the cleansing.
I have had a camera shoved up my penis 3 times with only a local. Watched it's travel into my bladder along with the doctor and nurse. Had internal hemorrhoids tied off with rubber bands done using nothing. Woman doctor. I'll take door #3 for the colonoscopy any time. |

It is not the procedure that sucks, it is the 12 hours of drinking a fluid that makes you shit like there is no tomorrow every 15 minutes. Compared to the preparation, the procedure is easy. |

At 37 I got colon cancer, had surgery, and then 6 months of chemo. If it meant I would never get cancer again, I would have a colonoscopy every month! Tell me about it...49 here. If I was scoped at 48 I would be better off. I am dealing w/ exactly what you had. |

If you've never had one, don't sweat the camera up the ass. It's the prep that sucks. I felt like the space shuttle launching off a toilet. Of course you get to have fun farting on everyone all day long. ![]() There are a lot of new preps that are not nearly as bad as the old way of which you speak. I just had my first a couple months ago. DR gave me a script for SUPREP. Insurance didn't cover the $75, but he swore I would thank him later. It's a 2 step process. 5pm the night before, mix with one bottle of water and drink 2 more. Shit for an hour. Go to bed and sleep for the night. Get up at 5am and repeat. Finished shitting at 6:30am. Go to 10am procedure. Then got propafol, so slept through it like a baby. I'm good for 10 years. |

If they are able to put humans on the moon, they should be able to find a better way to do this procedure without shoving a camera up someone's asshole. Cuz while they are looking for polyps, they remove them at the same time. 20 fuvking minutes big fucking deal. When you're done you get a snack and you get to let go a giant fart. Three yrs ago I had my first. The found 3 polyps and one was large and pre cancerous. This time they found 2 very small inconsequential polyps and removed them. Just had mine two weeks ago. Goid for you OP. I too advocate for this procedure. The peace of mind alone is worth it. M Man up faggits and get a tube up your ass. It could save your life. |

There is a new test being validated right now, and it only requires a stool sample.
It has detected both cancerous and benign polyps / tumors that escaped colonoscopy. It has a much lower detection threshold and also much lower false positive and false negative rates. They are saying that in less than 10 years the butt-scope will be no more. |

Out like a light and wake right up. ETA Spelling Really sucks? Nah, it sucks a bit. That's about the most you can say on it. And even it the worst parts are the prep and IVs. The prep consists of a few minutes of tasting something you don't like and not eating. And then you sit on the toilet for a bit. Probably browsing arfcom on a tablet, phone, or laptop, just like you would be doing anyways. Then they poke you with a needle. Try not to cry. Then you go to sleep, you wake up and eat. Like falling off a log. I've had 10 of them. If you're scared of a colonoscopy, I promise you, it's not scary, it's boring and routine. |

I had one a couple of months ago. For me, the hard part was getting cold. I froze and I like the cold. Everything came back fine on this one, thankfully. |

For me the prep was a walk in the park when compaired to the time I ate tacos from a street vendor in Mexico.
The bad part was while still under and as I was wheeled into the room to recover. I said something like "My wife has a gun so you better treat me right" The wife ha ha ha at that. BUT she was packin. |

Did mine 6 weeks ago...Doc used a less traumatic prep. It didnt hit til after 8 and i was in bed by 10..maybe 20-25 min on the toilet total Same here, didn't see what all the fuss is about. Better than dying of colon cancer like some of my family members. |

Mine was going to cost $1700 at the hospital. At a "free standing facility" my cost was$60 co pay. Apparently being a "free standing" gastric/digestive center was critical to BCBS. Find a way. Get the procedure. |
