I don't know how to add a poll, so maybe a moderator will be so kind.

I need to buy some more 45acp 230gr brass-cased FMJ ammunition.  I have used Sellier & Bellot for many years, and am happy with it.  However, since I'll be buying about 2,000 rounds, I figured this would be a good time to ask opinions.

PRICE BEING EQUAL, would you buy Sellier & Bellot or Fiocchi factory ammo?  If you know of another brand/make that is similarly priced but better quality...please chime in.

Lastly, besides ammoman.com do you have a suggestion of where to get great deals?

Sportsmans' Guide has some good deals every now and then.
I recently bought 2K rounds Lake City from them.

I'm not sure about specific pricing but if I were gonna invest in 2k rounds I'd bite the bullet (no pun intended) and spend a few bucks extra for good, American made ammo.

I have had great luck with Fiocchi in .357 mag.
They dont have all the PC sue your pants off crap to deal with. They arent afraid to load a round that will "Step out!"

Why would you want to buy 2,000 rounds of a back up round?  Why not reload, and I would say stay away from S&B,its kind of hot and the primers are hard (real hard)!Might work good in a Thompson and not so good in a pistol(depends on your firing pin set up)!

And you know of course your pistol is just to get you to your rifle of choice!

Cheap and Non-Corrosive...

I've got 600rds of USGI surplus .45 (corrosive) that I won't shoot because I don't have time to shoot and de-contaminate properly...

Other than that, if it goes 'bang', I could care less...

Fiocchi is american made and relatively cheap and has been pretty reliable and accurate for me.  About all I put through my handguns.

I've put 600-700 Rds of S&B .45ACP thru my Sig 220, never had a problem. I'm not saying it's great ammo, however, it always gone Bang.

I really like the PMP (South African) stuff you used to be able to get from Century for $150 on sale.  Now the sale price is more like $170 for 1,000 round case.

Crap, I passed my 1,000 post sometime recently and didn't even know it!

Fiocchi Ammunition, Founded 1876 in Lecco, Italy

They make SOME stuff in Missouri (since 1987) But I would hardly call them an "American" Company.

Never said they were an "American company". [;)]  All the .45 I've bought has been made in America though.  All the 9mm cases I've bought were made in Italy.  Being an Italian-American, I can live with that. [:)]

FYI...the SG has 1000 cases of wolf 45acp for $123.00.  It is stinky but cheap.

Of the two you mentioned, definitely Fiochhi...all the Fiochhi ammo I have ever shot has been first class...something I cannot say for the S&B 5.56.
