I've seen this movie it so many times I have it memorized. But I don't get some things regarding the Prince's war scheme.

1. Who hired Vizzini to kidnap Buttercup? Was it Humperdinck?
2. If so then why would Vizzini say "Once the horse reaches the castle, the fabric will make the Prince suspect the Guilderians have abducted his love. When he finds her body dead on the Guilder frontier, his suspicions will be totally confirmed."

I'm thinking maybe prince Humperdinck had someone hire Vizzini without letting Vizzini know that it was Humperdinck himself he was actually working for.

You've seen that movie a lot.

I don't think it's meaning is as deep as you think it is.

Humperdinck hired Vizzini through a cutout for plausible deniability.  Vizzini may or may not have been aware of this.  Remember who he was talking to at the time: a giant and a formally drunken swordsman.  He considered both of them to be inferior, mainly because of his dazzling intellect.  Vizzini also threatens to return both of them to where he found them.  He had no way of knowing if they would talk if they were captured or drunk.

It's also possible that Vizzini didn't trust either of his hirelings.  Remember, somehow, the man in black (what a cool name ) was already aware of their plans and in hot pursuit.

I think Humperdinck was complicit in the whole thing.

He needed the evidence to pursue. Finding Buttercup's body would give him the war he wanted.

Since there were no radio stations on the border between Guilder and the Prince's country, he had to come up with some way to embroil the Guilderians in a war for living room.
