This thread got me thinking:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1857829_Lost_My_Dad_Today_.html Has anyone received an odd final request, and if so, did you fulfill it? My dad requested that his ashes be put in my car ashtray, so we could drive together. We used to go on roadtrips. I have a small jar of his ashes in the ashtray of my truck. 6 years, and 2 vehicles. |

Father In Law was dying from lung cancer, no chance of recovery and he was on the way to a hospice to basically be drugged up till death.
He wanted one last beer between the time they pulled his breathing/drainage tubes and him going to the hospice. I fulfilled his wish. Wasn't much, but it made that cantankerous old man happy, and that was enough. |

So there were two gay guys.
one died and was cremated. One day the other gay guy was making a big ole pot of chili " without beans " and put the ashes into the pot. All the friends of the surviving gay guy asked him why did you do this? His reply: I just wanted Bruce to tear my ass up one more time. ![]()
Sorry My dads request was for me to get grave markers for his parents who had died when he was a kid in 1935 and a cousin who had raised him. Got it done |

Old biker dog friend of mine wanted me to put his ashes in a box, strap it to the back of my bike, hit the interstate and around 80mph, pop the top,
the wind spreading him over his favorite place. Didn't happen- his sister, who'd had no contact for 15 yrs showed up and claimed his ashes. Would've done it, too....... |

Similar to a Tibetan sky burial, I want to be taken out in the woods somewhere and left for the critters. As a hunter I've taken a lot of nutrition out of nature, I want to give it back when I don't need it anymore. |
| Half of my friend Tom went to PA with his sister, half sits in my kitchen on a shelf. Per his request before her death (she died first,) about a fourth of our friend Gretchen lives in the same giant beer stein with him. Though we wrapped the top in some silly tape covered in pictures of Jesus, figuring it might piss of the pair of atheists. |

Dont know of any odd final requests but this thread kind of made me think about odd memorials.
My buddy died of a heart attack at 40 back in January. His 18 year old daughter got her first tat a couple weeks later in memorial of her dad. "Dad, you saw me take my first breath. I saw you take your last."

That's a bit disturbing. |

Toughest thing I have done so far was following my father's last wish:
"No extraordinary measures, do not resuscitate." I am sooooooo grateful he had set that up before he get ill. Once he reached the hospital, he was never truly lucid again, between the pain and the pain killers. |

Don't worry, bro. You'll go back to nature, one way or another. Just give it time. Quoted:

Well aware that decomp happens, but by the time anything gets out of the casket and vault/grave liner there's little if any nutrition left. Is burial at sea still allowed? |

Some of my brothers ashes were spread in the outfield of Fenway park. His wife , four kids, my other brother and his wife each got a little and spread them. I received the notice the day before living in FL it wasn't possible to make it in time.
SIL knew a person who worked for the Red Sox and he got them in on a Sunday morning when the team was out of town. |

I guess you could take one last hike, and handle it yourself. |

Issue is, far enough gone to know I'd die out there(natural causes) would mean too weak to do it, and about the only other way would require suicide(not interested). |

I told my Wife much the same thing. Roll me in a ditch let the Coyotes and birds eat me and where ever they shit is where ill be. |

My grandpa didn't want a funeral or anything. He was 101 years old when he died so he figured it was well overdue. His only wish was to have his ashes split up and given to the grandkids to spread where they wanted on the family farm. I put my share in a grove of oak trees I spent many days squirrel hunting.
He also didn't want an obituary in the paper. Well, too bad we did it anyway. The obituary isn't for the deceased, it's for the living and provides historical documentation for future generations. |

My grandpa also died when he was 101. He wanted to be buried in a pair of denim overalls since that's what he had worn just about everyday while working on the farm. Glad to say we honored his wish. |

You can donate your body to one of six universities that will use your remains placed outdoors to teach forensics. |
My friends bro was blasted out of a cannon on a barge in the water. It took some planning to make this happen. I just did my will a few months ago. I'm gonna be cremated and there is a $10k fund to have a hell of a party with lots of my fav music. Then my ashes get dumped in the Chesapeake Bay by the old Pooles Island lighthouse in the catfish hole. I am now a proud member of the Cremation Society. Waiting for info on the next meeting.

| Sure, an old Texas Ranger buddy of mine and I got the crazy idea to drive a herd of cattle to Montana. Well, the old fool took an Indian arrow to the leg up in that north country. Wound up with blood poisoning and died. His wish was for me to carry his ass back to Texas for burial. I did. Guess that'll teach me to be more careful about what I promise in the future. |
| A family called me about spreading remains over their farm from the air. I wanted to do it but had a schedule conflict. The other instructor pilot took the flight. I arrived just as they were taxiing back to the ramp. I rushed out to meet the Cessna 150 and proceeded to comfort the passenger with the empty urn on the way back into the FBO without letting her turn around and look back at the plane covered with a thin film of Uncle Fred. He followed the slip stream in a spiral around the fuselage sticking to engine oil. |
