Where's this magical place?

I've never bought a gun from a dealer quicker than the longest time I waited to vote.
Ever.

It is easier to vote than it is to buy a gun.

I filled out a form one time, 16 years ago, now I can vote every year with ease.

Every time I buy a gun, I fill out two forms and show 2-3 forms of ID (depends what I'm buying and what ID's I have on me), and wait around for a pain in the ass background check that always gets delayed.  Takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 days.

Getting easier, though.

Do any state or local D parties require IDs for participation in their primaries or caucuses?  That would be a little hypocritical, but no surprise, wouldn't it?

Don't bother replying to his rant, comments don't post.
My attempted post:

"I refuse to live in a country where it’s easier to buy a gun than it is to vote."
Well, lucky you, you don't have to move, then.
To buy a gun from a dealer, whether it be online, in person, OR at a gun show, you have to:
Show ID.
Fill out an ATF form 4473.
Submit to, (and pass) a background check that checks for felonies, domestic violence convictions, admission to mental facilities....
Possibly wait several days if the results of that check are unclear and warrant further investigation.....
And in some parts of the country, petition your local law enforcement for a "permit" asking permission, in advance, before buying said firearm...
As well as having to renew that permit (if required) on an ongoing basis...
For the "privilege" of exercising your 2nd amendment rights.

Whereas in some parts of the country, all you have to do to vote is fill out an absentee ballot.
No id, or citizenship validation required.
Whether you are actually alive, or not.

Something seems fundamentally wrong about that.

I keep hearing bitching about how hard it is to vote. It has been the easiest process I have ever entered into. You register, find out where your polling place is and go with your ID.

i agree... voting should be a lot harder ,have more rules , require a photo id, and prior registration.

where does this guy get, thats its difficult to vote?   seems its against the law to require anyone to prove anything anymore to vote, or register, or show a id at all. i wish we would use the fucking purple finger ink we forced on iraq when they voted.

To buy a gun, in my fucked up state, i must be 18, have a state issued identification PLUS secondary proof of address, Pay to take a written test, posses a purchase permit from the state, have proof i own a safe or purchase a lock, wait ten days and pay to pass a background check.

To vote: i file out a form and drop it off t the post office.

"I refuse to live in a country where it’s easier to buy a gun than it is to vote."

For legal purchases of firearms, this is not the case anywhere America.

To purchase a firearm from a licensed firearms dealer anywhere in America requires at least one form of photo identification issued by a government authority and a criminal history check by the government.  In some states, for example, Virginia, it requires at least two pieces of identification, and as many as four pieces of identification, depending on other factors such as the type of firearm purchased.  Other states, for example Maryland, require mandatory classes and purchase permits and payment of "fees" (aka taxes) in order to be able to purchase a firearm (not to do it, but to be able to do it). There are no mandatory classes to vote, and poll taxes and fees were, long ago, found to be unconstitutional.

In addition, citizens are not subjected to a criminal background check at the polls, but this is mandatory for lawfully purchasing a firearm from a licensed firearms dealer anywhere in America.

I note also that citizens are restricted their ability to purchase or possess firearms based on factors that do not disqualify a person from voting, for example, being under indictment from a crime, being convicted of certain misdemeanors, or being a user of illegal drugs such as marijuana.

And as a last note, people are rarely prosecuted for violating voting laws. People are routinely prosecuted for illegal firearms possession, purchases, or sales.

This is not secret information.  Read it for yourself, for example at the ATF website and the Virginia State or Maryland State Police websites,
