Anyone have any experience with these yet? I've heard there have been a lot of good changes to the design, but I don't know anyone that has one. I looked in the AR Variants forum but didn't see anything there.

I'm not ready for a Knights/Larue/LMT .308 at this time, and the DPMS has an affordable price point.

That's kind of a long barrel on a FA .308, but a very nice looking gun anyway.

I've read that there are issues with pmags not locking the bolt to the rear.  I had several 308 pmags and was looking into the G2, but decided to go with an armalite def10 instead.  It will be in this week (along with an slr lite rail and sentry 7) so I can't really speak of the quality of the armalite.   I think you would be fine with a G2 though as they seem to be catching on.  I think Adams arms makes a gun based on the G2 now.

Bought a GII Recon in Feb....haven't had the chance to shoot it yet.

It looks like a hell of a nice rifle and I hope it shoots as well as it looks

You should send the OP a bag of dicks for not including a pic in his post

We've had a ton of threads on it in the Variants section.  DPMS GII

Keep in mind Colt re-introduced a small frame AR10 to the market back in 2012 IIRC, the Colt LE901, which has now evolved into several other models in the MARC line up.

Then came DPMS with the GII in 2014.

If you look at the history of the AR10, the finalized product ArmaLite had developed, then sold to Colt in 1959, was the AR10A, which had a reduced size receiver set, AR15 FCG, and just scaled down as much as they could.

Colt started tooling up to mass produce the AR10A, but after promises of many different Foreign Military Sales for the AR15, they ceased the AR10A production and went over to AR15, which was then bought as a stop-gap until SPIW could be matured by 1968.

The original AR10A is not to be confused with the current ArmaLite Inc. AR10A that takes SR25 mags.

I like mine a lot. Except for some minor issues with D&H magazines (which seem to worked themselves out) it's functioned fine. I have just over 4000 rounds of surplus ball and Wolf steel case through it so far.

Love mine.  I bought IMI/Israeli (via Aim Surplus) mags to solve the PMAG issue and they work great.  I changed out to the MI handguard and it is like a new gun. Super light for .308

People are right about the PMAG thing, but if you've got a dremmel (or a HF knockoff like me) and about 5 minutes it's not a problem.  You just cut a small channel into the follower to allow clearance for the feed lip so that the follower can raise up a little higher.  There's a thread on it somewhere and it's simple to do, but it is something to keep in mind if you prefer pmags (which I do).

My G2 Recon has been a good gun so far.  This past Thursday I took it to an intro to long range shooting course (well, long range for us in the southeast) and it performed well out to the 500 yards we were shooting.

There's a "ton" of threads, but very few dealing with actually shooting/using the GII. Lots of pics, Frankenguns, questions about accessories, etc. I was looking for responses like some have given me here concerning issues with P-mags, and how well they like/dislike their guns after putting some rounds through them.

DPMS has done a lot to improve their reputation. I've been impressed.
