If my son is trying to put some of his tabs on a website for guitars and it says no word format please submit tabs in plain test only. what does that mean?

its a typo, probably meant plain TEXT, it would be a .txt file.
was looking at some that are .tab files, it looks like they saved them as .txt then just changed the .txt to .tab, you can use wordpad or notepad or word, they all can "save as" .txt

It means they probably are worried about having viruses (virii?) uploaded. He'll have to convert the file from a .doc to a .txt file.

do a then towards the bottom of the dialog box where it says "save as type" select "plain text"
You're gonna lose all your formatting.
What version of word are you using?
