Well, yesterday I finally got back into the high country. I spent yesterday hiking and taking a few photos up in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Being a business owner, and also having too many other hobbies kept me out of the mountains for some time now. It was good to get back out there! This time, I didn't take my normal kit though, a 50 lb. pack with a large format camera, all its assorted gear, a wood Barlebach tripod and a D600 with some lenses. This time, my photography setup only weighed about 5 lbs. I'm using my new (to me) Sigma DP2 Merrill and an aluminum tripod. I can cut this weight down even more if I buy one of those fancy carbon tripods. The Merrill camera shoots photos rivalling a medium format digital back camera, but can fit in a coat pocket. These photos don't really do the camera justice at small web size. The detail, IQ, sharpness and colors blow any other digital camera I've ever used out of the water, even my D600 FF camera. Anyway, on to the photos. Again, these were all shot close to noon. This was more of a hiking trip than a photo trip, but I still wanted to use the camera a little. A view I seem to take with all my cameras when I visit the park. Rocky Mountain National Park 2 by Andrew Marjama, on Flickr
