Funny enough, I was just talking to my friend about that. Our speedometer has melted and as a result it's very hard to see with any degree of accuracy exactly how fast we were going.

What were his politcs?    That is the first factor for me.   As an example, good riddence to Robin Williams.

Not funny.  The Will Ferrell of his time.

Don't care.

They both did what actors do.

Made me laugh, made me cry.

Made me forget for a time all the shit in the world.

I don't know what his politics were, and while some like Penn try to push their liberal agenda, I never heard Candy mention politics much, so I'm good with him.

Everyone is different.    I care about the politics of the people or movies.    I don't have any use for more than 90% of them (entertainers, such as ball players, dancers, signers, and/or actors).

I used to watch him on SCTV skits late Fri nights back in the early 80's.  Candy, Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Joe Flaherty, Dave Thomas, Rick Moranis, Andrea Martin, Katherine O'Hara,...  That show had some genuine comedy gold.  Pretty much all of them went on to star in various mainstream movie & TV shows.

Memories...

Entertainers should be politically quiet.   "Shut up and sing."    Otherwise, judge them for the same.

A bit petty considering Robin was truly funny guy that defending the US flag and supported our troops.  I certainly don't agree with him on a lot of things, but he never came off as some self-righteous prick.
