Never thought that watching someone eat and drink (beer, sake, wine) could be so enjoyable.

Wakakozake is a show about a young (26-year old), single Japanese woman who enjoys exploring new restaurants, savoring great food, and drinking alcoholic beverages with each meal.

Usually she explores restaurants by herself, but occasionally she brings along one or two of her cute female friends.

It is apparently based on a manga and anime character. But I prefer watching a cute Japanese woman to watching a cartoon character.

When the food and drink puts her into a near-orgasmic state, she says "Pshuuu". It's quite sensuous.

Not much of a plot, but very easy on the eyes.

Pshuuu...

I find shows like this to be a very painful criticism of how fucked up and lonely the average Japanese is--and how tragically awkward their social interactions really are...

Definitely smash-worthy.

It reminds me of the feeling that I get while eating a piece of uni sushi (sea urchin) or amaebi (sweet shrimp) after having a glass or two of cold sake. It puts you into a zone where you just want to close your eyes and savor the experience.

Never felt like saying "pshuuu", though.

OK, that was supposed to be 'pshuuu' in hiragana.

Guess not...

I can believe it...

Would like to go back, for longer than the couple of weeks each time that I visited back in 1995 and again in 1996.

Maybe someday...

I couldn't get through it. Whatever floats your boat I guess. I did notice how they cover their laptops after they close them up.

I'm learning to speak Japanese, so I listen to the dialog carefully while watching her eat.

But if you've seen five minutes of one episode, you've seen it all.

OK - that one certainly broke my WTF-meter all to hell.

I have a sudden, inexplicable urge to cook some chicken.

And eggs.

And, um, get some milk, to go with it too.
