Anybody ever heard of using pre-mixed thinset adhesive as grout on bathroom wall tile?  My wife seems to think doing this is okay.  I've never heard of it and figured that thinset was made for bonding the tiles to the backer board and that grout was made for grouting?  I've done two other (floor) tile jobs and grout worked just fine for "grouting".  Enquiring minds want to know......Thanks in advance.

Can't see how it matters, you're going to seal whatever you use right??
Maybe a tile guy will come along. I've only done a little bit of it.

BTT for a tile guy.

You could try but my guess is it will be a PITA to clean.  Grout can be removed from the tile surface via acid but thinset resists acid.

You need to clean after the grout has dried, othewise the grout lines will look rough.

STOP...
PUT YOUR HANDS UP AND MOVE AWAY FROM THE TILE.
Thinset is NOT Grout. It is not a water-tight seal and it will not look right when finished. It will also be a Mutha to remove.
E-mail me for more help.

Thanks guys...I suspected as much and just spent three days with a dremel tool removing the thinset that was used as grout.  My wife was told by a contractor that thinset would work just fine as a grouting compound.  It looks like the thinset was too thick to really get into the gaps between the tiles and ended up looking like crap.  I just got it all cleaned out and regrouted yesterday and it looks 100% better.  Now I'm off to home depot get some grout sealer.  Thanks again!
