I have heard about the same number of people trashing Fobus holsters, as those singing their praises.

Wondering what the general consensus of the ARFCOM hive mind.

I've tried Fobus holsters and I wasn't impressed. They are great for a cheap range holster but I don't think they are good for daily carry. I prefer Kydex.

I've got one for my Makarov. Not an expert on holsters or anything, but it works fine.  Molded plastic, carries well when I do carry.  You have to make sure you're wearing pants snug around the waist or a belt, or else you cant easily draw the gun.

I dont like the draw stroke you must use with a Fobus holster. You have to YANK the gun out of the hoster, a smooth draw wont work. This is an intentional design of the holster, and pointed out in the instructions.

If they made the holsters fit properly, like a Blade tech or even a plastic uncle mikes, you could use a smooth controlled draw and still have good retention.

Fobus holster contribute to to many fumbled draws. Iv'e seen guns dropped on the firing line and actually thrown down range when drawn from Fobus holsters.

For the same price by a Uncle Mikes plastic holster, or save up for a Blade Tech.

I have a Uncle Mike paddle for 1911. Love the hoster but the paddle part I can't seem to get locked onto my pants and belt worth a flip. May have to get a belt style but wanted to try a quick on and off.

Blade Tech makes the best kydex holsters.

That said, I sold mine with the Glock23 for a Springfield 1911.

I decided to buy a nylon holster and down the road a good leather holster.  Reason, the kydex seemed to rub the finish off faster on my Glock.

P.S. Echo6,

A question about your screen name.  I use to be Delta6 with an MOS of 1542 with the First Inf Div.  Do you know what I'm talking about?

I have one for my G-19 and I like it a lot. I use it in IPSC matches in the production pistol class,I've not had any "fumbled draws".As far as having to "yank" the gun out,I think once you get used to drawing out of it, you never even think of it. Also, it makes it very hard for another person to get your gun out of your holster, as it needs to be pulled out strait up.Those of you that have them, have your wife, or a friend try to get your unloaded gun out before you can put an elbow in thier face.

I have a Fobus for the Walther P99, a very tight fit.

Have an Uncle Mikes for the 1911, a nice fit.

Great IDPA holster for the price, but I always have to spray Armorall inside to slick it up, otherwise they stick.  (Make sure you wipe it out before your put you gun in.)

I tried Galco and Bianchi paddles for my ParaOrdnance before I settled on the Fobus.  I was surprised as hell, didn't expect a $20 dollar holster to work for me, but I the profile, retention and draw are great for me.  I haven't worn it in a while, but that's just because I don't carry that pistol much anymore.

I went and bought this one today

I like the "saftey" the holster has. The pistol WILL NOT come out of the holster unless the button is pushed.

I've got two Fobus holsters and one Uncle Mike's Kydex (Fobus for S&W 686 and Beretta 92, UM for my 1911A1) and frankly, IMHO, there's not much difference between the two, even price. My UM for the 1911 is just as hard (or easy) to draw as the Fobus. Holsters are one of those things where they have one for whatever you want to pay. I just bought a leather Dillon's Master for my HiPower at $45, and the Bianchi Minimalist for my Bereta and Sig P239 was $35, so at $22 each for the Fobus and $16 for the UM Kydex, they are both DEALS. Frankly, I live about 2 miles from Galco and have been there a couple of times, and though they seem to make a really good product, their holsters cost A GODDAMN FORTUNE.

You bringing it to IDPA????
I am too skinny to carry w/ a paddle holster, and I think that the Fobus causes wear to the finish of the gun.
With that said, they do make a belt-loop model that I almost bought yesterday.
Where'd you get yours Echo?

I think that Galco holsters are a clear case of getting what you pay for personally.  I used to work in a shop that sold them, and alot of people would balk at the price, but those that I convinced generally came back for more of them.
Their Concealable is one of the best designs around.

Yep its what I'm going to use for IDPA, read the rules & found out my Bianchi dosent qualify for use unless I'm a cop.

I got it at National Law enforcement sales.
They have reasonable prices, they are good people, and its literaly right around the corner from my house.
