Woke up at 9 tonight to see if there was work or if it got called off. We all had to sign up for text alerts this week due to the storm. No text, info line says all shifts on regular schedule, so I go in at 10:00pm as usual. Roads werent too bad so I figured we were supposed to go in. Got to work and there was 3 people there, me, my cow irker and the guard. So fuck it, we go in and read the paper for an hour and my buddy gets a text........As of 7:00pm NJ is in state of emergency, plant closed till third shift Sunday. God damn idiotic motherfuckers could fuck up an ice cream social. |

Quoted: Where in NJ? if you're down near Philly I'd think all the major bridges have restricted travel with the wind and low visibility. Take it easy ans get home safe. Came over the Scudders Falls bridge @ 5mph, got blown all squirrely a couple times on 295 and couldnt figure out what the deal was until I turned the radio down. As far as calling the boss, when they say go in there are no excuses if you want to keep your job. Plus, it is the plant managers decision and hes not giving out his # to 1300 people. |

Quoted: Yes. It is someone who irks cows. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: WTF is a Cow Irker? Someone that irks cows? I was going to ask this. Instead, I'll quote it and hope for answers. Yes. It is someone who irks cows. We are a farm factory and we make cows. The customers dont want the cows until they have a bit of an attitude problem so this guy does his best to piss them off before shipping. Mostly he dresses up like a mime and does the rope pulling mime and the cow falls for it, then realizes hes been had and gets pissed. Other cows need more prodding so depending on their politics we show them either a pic of Obama blowing Carter or Reagan smacking Gorbachev with a book. |
| 6/10 for the rant but +2 for not describing how far you chose to live from work. What is with the goobers posting today that feel some how they are MORE entitled to a paid day off because they chose to live further from their place of work. I work with with a belly bearded shirt puller who "works" from home on Fridays because he commute OUT of the Chiraq. His commute on fridays would be 4 fucking hours round trip and some how this is his employers fucking fault. So yeah 8/10. |

Back in the good old days if we showed up at the jobsite and work was called off due to weather, we got 2 hours "show up time" Bill the company at least what it took to drive in plus whatever time you were there until the boss text you. Your time is worth something. |

| I was supposed to work OT today. Customer said he'd be on site regardless of weather. My buddy and I were planning on loading all of our tools into my personal truck then having some fun with 4wd to go to work. The office called the customer and cancelled the job. We were pissed. |

So another brilliant fuck up. Last week we had a non scheduled shutdown due to equipment breakdowns and were told to be flexible as we may be needed on other shifts....Ok, no big deal right? Then they decide to put 3rd shift on a split shift for this week to help work flow between 1st and 2nd shifts on a big project. So today I go in at 10am like I was told and everyone is asking me where I was last night and why am I here now. Apparently someone made a decision and kept it all to themselves as to having us work our normal 3rd shift as we had equipment coming and it would need off loaded. And guess what? Nobody was home when the trucks showed up at 11pm. ![]() I figure this cost us about 5k in extra fees and downtime. FML, Im getting squishy and going to bed. |
