First, some background on me and the wife..... We are both in our mid-twenties, no medical problems or injuries in the past 12 months, I work full time and have insurance thru work, she is finishing up with school this spring (7 years, finally) and I have been carrying a Blue Cross Blue Shield policy on her since we got married. I forget the name of the policy she has, but it has always been $299.75 a month. Last night she went online to check and see if anything has changed for 2016 and to our surprise her policy has gone up to $375.57 a month!!! No letters, no email, just a 24% rate hike!!!
Needless to say I am furious, I don't understand the insurance system, and crap like this just puts me over the edge. The wife will be calling to inquire about it today, but I was wondering what personal insurance policies people on here have or if this is a normal rate hike or if this is just how much insurance costs. Opinions? |

She might can get it through the college she is attending, rare but some offer it. We looked into that when she last transferred, it would have been a lesser policy for more money. However it would have been a lump sum once per semester as opposed to monthly. |

So what is the cause for the increases? Obama? Obamacare? Uninsured people? I feel like the insurance co is gonna give me a line of crap like "we are having to increase rates to help cover rising health costs" ! Insurances are now required to provide 'free' contraceptives (no copay). No lifetime maximum. No pre-existing condition restrictions. How much would your car insurance go up if the government mandated a free tank of gas for any female driver once a month, can't drop bad drivers after an accident, and not charge (much) more for bad drivers (history of accidents, tickets, etc.) when they sign up? Oh...you should probably check your deductible also....it might have gone up a bit....maybe a lot...

I am 38 and was buying my own healthcare through work since 1995. 0bamacare has changed everything with health care. |

no flame, bro...but a 24% rate hike is piss, nothing, nada, zip.
My wife and I are now paying DOUBLE our mortgage payment per month for health insurance and NEITHER one of us smoke, have ever had ANY hospital stays, or serious medical conditions. 0buttfuqq care specifically states that the 20-somethings are supporting the 60-somethings because the youngsters weren't buying health insurance and now they are "mandated" (taxed without representation) to do so. Welcome to the party, pal! <insert John McClane meme> |

$75?
Count yourself lucky. What do you think your nsurance is worth on the open market, no government or employer subsidies? No clue? Most people don't. Health or medical insurance is a scam. The price and the rules will change so fast it will make your head spin. |

My company is losing our insurance due to Obamacare requiring we have to have at least one employee (who isn't a shareholder or spouse of one) insured. All the employees, except one, are shareholders. The one that isn't a shareholder has a pension insurance deal from her dead police officer husband. Thus we pay her more, either I have to fire her and hire someone else to give insurance too or we all get thrown onto the individual exchanges.
Either route f'n sucks. |

I guess I'm the lucky one, no rate increase for 2016, we dropped BCBS (they were going to hit us hard, fuck them) and went with Cigna were I work, same coverage. Yep, 34% increase for this year per the boss. Changing to Kaiser.
As insurance companies drop off, it will get down to 3 companies. That's what happened to the school my wife works for. Next year will be the real eye opening I think. The choices this year from the insurance companies were airtight or double penetration. Next year it will be double vag or double anal and air tight. |

Thanks Obama. Someone has to pay for all those ''free'' healthcare plans if you are poor. But the math doesn't work. Out of 318 million there's about 18 million more insured if you buy the administration's numbers. So that means the person insuring that first 300 million needs to pay for that last 18 million ... OK fine, whatever that's should be about 6% more for the productive people but I haven't seen a single person who's seen less than 50% increased across the last five years. Where's all the rest of that money going to? |

| Op it sucks but you don't have it to bad. I am 40 never smoked and very seldom drink , BP is below average and have no real health issues. MY wife is 38 has never smoked and drinks maybe 4-6 glasses of wine a year and is in excellent health. We both eat very healthy and have no real issues with our health, we also have no kids. We pay over 1,100 a month for our 2 insurance policies through Kaiser. I am self employed and she manages a neurosurgeon practice. As bad as we got it their are people on here that have it way worse. |

Isn't that about the same price as cell phone plan monthly? Our cell phone plan is together and monthly it is just under $100. I had the weekend to cool down, I'm not as upset about the insurance stuff as I was. It's only $75 more for about 5 more months then she will be joining the work force and "hopefully" have insurance thur an employer. but still tho..... FBHO |
