No CLEO signature?  FUCK YES!

[#3]
This final rule was signed by the Attorney General on January 4, 2016.  It is effective 180 days
after date of publication in the Federal Register.  The final rule published in the Federal Register
may differ slightly from this version as a result of Federal Register formatting.

Well, that is definitely a sunny spot in this giant shit sandwich.

No CLEO sig is a nice surprise.  Having to notify them isn't the end of the world.

Whole thing sucks, but could have sucked a lot worse.

So now even trusts have to go to CLEO?

Unless I'm misunderstanding this it would appear that way.

Edit: I just read it again, I think CLEO signature isn't required.?
CLEO gets a copy.

The way I read it is they eliminated the CLEO signature!

Well, this sucks.

Always loved showing first time suppressor owners how easy the process is, and have probably sold to hundreds of first time buyers the last year, setting up trusts, notarizing them, and helping them pick out their first can.

It's definitely disappointing to hear that there will be yet more hoops to jump through, on something that shouldn't be regulated in the first place.

EDIT: For everyone on Mobile.

Trusts will have to go through the same BS as Individuals, but the CLEO Signature Requirement has been removed across the board.
Everyone on the trust will now have to get Passport Photos and Fingerprint Cards.

As shitty as this is, no CLEO signature is pretty damn great.

So, does this shit mean that anyone on my trust who can possess its NFA items (in this case not just me, but my wife and brother as well) have to provide prints and photos?

Need to submit a shitload of Forms 1, and buy a bunch of cans now, within the next 6 months, if so.

If I'm reading correctly, not only the trust but the to be defined application, finger prints and photos of everyone on the trusts.  How many crimes have been committed by people using legally owned NFA items again?  2? 3?  It's so statistically small it's not even worth counting.  Fucking ridiculous

SAME HERE! Only have to notify.

Still have to submit to a BGC and send fingerprints for all "responsible persons" though.

After it gets published in the registrar.  That could be a couple days to a couple months.

But the first page does say no need for CLEO signature.

Haven't read the link yet.  If true and CLEO Sig is not required, are fingerprints still required for all on trust?

This has always been my biggest gripe as I am fortunate enough to live in an area where CLEO signs without question, but having to have my wife and son submit fingerprints is what really doesn't sit well with me.

I haven't read it, will a trust established before the 180 days are up need this, or is it for each firearm purchased through a trust?

I'm no lawyer, but thats how I read it.

We have 6 months before we are stuck reminiscing about the good old days

If you read further down all it says is that the CLEO is notified that an application has been submitted.
1/4/2016 11:59:12 PM EDT
[#40]
So will there be a grandfather clause or will everyone with a trust/corporation/etc have to resubmit?
1/4/2016 11:59:34 PM EDT
[#41]
Two hundred and how many pages????

They changed Cleo signoff to Cleo notification? That's about as far as I got at the moment... Well that and responsible peeps have to pics and prints, but if the Cleo isn't required to sign off is that a problem now?

haven't read beyond that...
1/4/2016 11:59:43 PM EDT
[#42]
Might be a stupid question but here goes. I read the ruling, it talks about firearms DDs and other types of firearms. Do suppressors count as firearms in the twisted logic of BATF?
1/5/2016 12:00:08 AM EDT
[#43]
What does this mean for the E-File system?  No more, since you have to provide prints and photos?
1/5/2016 12:00:23 AM EDT
[#44]
Where's Nolo?  We need him to legally buttfuck these jackasses.

Doubt they can do that

I bet the CLEOs will appreciate getting a bunch of extra mail for these applications.  I bet most end up in File 13 with a great deal of concern for your personal information.

It could have been worse without eliminating the CLEO requirement but still a big PITA.
