My in-laws have a 4''  copper drain pipe that has a leak at a y where a 3'' drain meets. It appears to be in the pipe that connects the two fittings. Can copped drain pipe be cut at the existing fittings sweated to remove the pipe from the hubs, and then re-soldered again? The plumbers they contacted want to rip out the copper fittings and swap it for PVC.
