I'm looking for a lawyer who specializes in geriatric issues located in the Northampton area of PA. Our dad is 84 years old and a Korean veteran with two Bronze Stars. He has been exploited by an individual to the tune of $140,000 and has now been declared incapacitated by the courts. He will be removed from his home by force for his own protection and incarcerated due to his alleged illness. My brother and I respected the POA and tried like hell to prevent him from being exploited due to no avail ,his stubbornness and simply we don't reside in PA. As a result the of  the PA elder care law requires you to reside in PA. Inasmuch as my brother and I don't live in PA guardianship was appointed by the courts to handle his estate . My brother is in CA and we want to remove the appointed guardian by the courts and move our dad to CA where the weather is better, senior programs are much better and it will be much more cost effective to maintain our dads legacy.

Thanks very much for the help

Dan

I can't offer you any advice, but I'll pray for you guys, and bump this thread in the hopes that someone that can will see it. I'm just finishing up getting through a major mess when my dad was put in a nursing home in 2008, passed in 2012, and I'm still not completely done with it. The VA took well over a year, and it cost us over $125,000, plus nearly lost our home. We are just getting the probate work done.

I think it would be a great thing if we could have a sticky where all of the lawyers of ARFCOM could be listed along with the states they're licensed in, and the types of law.

It would get them business, but it would be a huge help for the members.
