I wasn't that into him back in the day but I've grown to appreciate his work now that I've gotten older. I'm recognizing more and more songs that I remember from the radio years ago, they just always seemed to be background noise when I was little but now when I hear them I think
Many of Peter Gabriel's songs fit into this category. Rediscovering great artists is fun! |

You scared me...usually a thread title "John Doe" means that person has died! Not thirty minutes ago, "In your Eyes" came on the radio and I told my wife that I need to dig out his greatest hits CD because his music isn't available on the music sight I subscribed to. Gabriel was always the Activist. |

Love his music |

He's getting old as shit but still has it. There isn't too much really innovative music today. Perhaps I'm getting old and need to return to my curmudgeonly ways. But as nice a wrecking ball-Cyrus's tits are, she's a ho that can't sing. And to the haters - I have have the White in vinyl and some 40's, 50's, 60's records to my 90's grunge. I remember where I was when Kurt Cobain ate a shotgun barrel when I was 18 just like my dad where & when he was when Kennedy was shot. Hell, the wife and I have jazz and wine night when the kids are asleep. But music moved from art for music/fans to art for shock value. There are exceptions of course. Going back under my bridge so I can terrorize children thru nursery |

Sorry OP, but that video was the very definition of a sad-old-tired-musician-cashing-in-on-decades-earlier-success FFS, post something good I like to think of it as a very refined and more acoustically sophisticated version of the original. |

- This wins the award for Peter Gabriel tunes They did this tour as (IIRc) part of a WNEW 102.5FM radio Christmas Concert 1970 something. Opening act was String Driven Thing. MC was Scott Muni. |

Just about to post. Agreed. He was the personality of Genesis. |

Back in 93 went to a Peter Gabriel concert in Saratoga Springs NY with a date. A bunch of us waited at the back gate. They had a decoy in the concert costume leave in a golf cart, a few minutes later a figure wrapped in towels split in the opposite direction in another golf cart. So we chased that one
Im a few feet away with the autograph book stretched out when I notice a trail to the left that would loop around front to where he was headed. I yelled out go around left to the people behind me and a bunch took off in that direction. He looks me in the eye and yells "Step on it, they're organized!". I stopped running from laughing and the golf cart sped off. My date couldnt believe I stopped and left her without an autograph. |
