[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Returned EOTechs (Page 1 of 2)
Posted: 12/20/2015 12:54:53 PM EDT
| With all the returned EOTechs, many of which are like new safe queens, do you think we are about to see a flood of refurbished optics to hit the market? Seems hard to believe they are going to pit them in a dumpster. |
| If it weren't for the fact I regularly take my optics to cold weather states, i.e. N. Wisconsin, I would have keep it. The possibility of creep below 32 degrees was the key factor. That said, I would buy again if they fix the issue, or dump the returns at a steep discount. |
|
Quoted: The EOTech threads are the new gang bang threads....... Agreed, but this is a valid question. I've mentioned the same thing in another thread...Eotech needs to sell all the returned units with a disclaimer to mitigate their loss...$50-100 each. I'd take a chance... |

Seems hard to believe they are going to pit them in a dumpster. I'm sending mine back (Tan 553) and it's been pretty much a safe queen. Why should I take the hit on the value if I ever wanted to sell it because of their screw ups? I think I'm going to get a MRO and black DD furniture. I've been wanting to get away from the FDE for a while. ETA- I'd buy it back from them for $50

I wanted to like them and their field of view and ease of shooting is great....but they need to take the same concept and create a lower power draining laser and a crisper reticle to compete with Aimpoint, Trijicon etc....
Basically, they need to step their game up, no more modifying a dated system. |

Aimpoints and trijicons have a little dot, thats it nothing more to it. Much more tech is involved in making the eotech work. Still the fastest sight on the market, just need to understand the limitations. |

A friend bought a "Pro" and it seems like a cheap POS (reminds me of BSA type quality). He ran out of vertical adjustment so, it shoots 6" high at 25 yards. If you're going to get an Aimpoint, get an M2/3, T1 or Comp M4. |

They no doubt will all be destroyed, assuming the company does not go away, If they resell them they would not want the units returned for repair a second time.
The only way would be an obvious stamping indicating refurbished. Being they were refunded at full MSRP, it would be a bad business decision to spend more on the returned unis to evaluate each unit then spend more on "repairs". |

Not sure on that one. I have a 553 from 2009 and it was approved. |

Mine was on my home defense carbine. It needed to be re-zeroed every time I took it to the range. It had the reticle dimming when view at different angles through the display. I didn't abuse it or the rifle in any way. The roughest action that rifle and sight saw was the trip to the range and back. It mostly sat leaned up against my bedside table. I only had the sight two years. Primary Arms sights blow that Eotech out of the water as far as reliability is concerned. My TA-31 ACOG saw combat duty in Afghanistan on my duty rifle. It was regularly bounced around and was even blown up with me in the back of an MRAP and never once lost zero. That ACOG and the rifle it is now mounted on is now my home defense carbine. |

Unlike a poser operator testing zero in 32 degree weather trying to convince everyone that they are morally wrong by sending in their RDS.

They do have a permanent fix for the issue. So send it in and get it fixed. It's a win-win And I'm not beta-testing their "fix." They couldn't come clean the 1st time around, why should I take their word the 2nd? It's not like I had the thing on a range toy. I bought what I thought was a combat grade optic for a reason. It's not what was advertised or made out to be. I'll be getting something else that is what it is advertised to be, like an Aimpoint. I might even spring for an ACOG if I can find one for a decent price. |

They come with 36 inches at 100 yards so 6" high at 25 at the limit means that something was 60" high to start with. |
