I get asked regularly if putting a loaded mag in a plate carrier will stop M193 from going through a steel plate.

So I loaded a mag, put it in the carrier with a brand new Level III body armor plate and shot it with M193 from a 22" barrel.

I alread shot and edited Part 2 of this, it will be up soon...

You should feel bad about shooting that plate carrier.

Can you post a link where to where I could buy one.

I did feel bad. But trust me the soft armor tests with the mags in front will be very interesting to you guys.

How many layers did the soft armor have?

I wonder if you did the same thing but fired a tracer if it would cause the round/'s in the magazine to cook off.

It was the IIIA panel in this vid, I didn't cut it open to count the layers.

I don't think the tracer would spend enough time near the powder to light anything, plus I'm not sure a round with a hole in it could cook off.  Maybe if it burned the powder in the one's next to it.

Can you test a thin layer of sand in front of the plate?
