| If something bad happened in America that you had to leave your home, and couldn't take a vehicle and you had to walk.Up into the mountains how would you carry ammo.on your self to last 2 mos in the mountains or where ever you had to go. Pleast list the item that you would use to pack as much ammo as you could, plus other stuff to keep your self alive. Thanks to all that reply. |

Most of the city slickers wouldn't last a few weeks in the mountains and even a lot of the people who live in the mountains. I never understood why people want to bug out to the mountains when climate/conditions/food is more plentiful in lower elevation areas. I live in the mountains and even for me It'd be tough to carry enough stuff to survive 2 months. I'd rather hole up in my house and go out every now and then to hunt the easy rabbit/squirrel and fish. Why try and carry stuff a long ways when you already have security in the place you're at? It was 0 degrees at my house this morning, good luck surviving in that without a lot of gear! |

If everyone ran into the mountains it would be total chaos up there. I bet mountain guys are like "let's bug out to the empty cities below"

Because people love to jack it to ideas of walking into the wilderness and surviving indefinitely. Most of them couldn't even do a week on the Appalachian Trail without calling it. |

I'm not going on a combat mission I'm bugging out for 2 months which means I'm going into hiding in the mountains in your scenario to survive . My concern will be clean water , warm clothes and a shelter and a source of food . |
|
There are very few scenarios that would require me to bug out. Small towns work better for bugging in.
There are even fewer scenarios that would stop me from getting to my BOL. Its less than an hour by vehicle and I'll passing through familiar territory that I was raised in and around. The only hard and fast choke point is the Tenn-Tom Waterway. I will have to cross that. Otherwise, I know the back roads like the back of my hand and a 4WD F150 can get around a lot of stuff. And haul a lot of guns, ammo, and gear. |

Beer gut. Don't forget to develop a good fat layer to tide you over. A favorite strategy an ARFCOM is to live in your parent's basement, do as little exercise as possible, and spend all of your money on video games, pizza, crappy Russian ammo, and porn. Of course, this technique is as untested as it is popular. |

Yes, but how long could you or the average person survive in that climate trudging up a mountainside only what they could actually carry? 99% of people in society today have lost any and all survival or bush skills. Those romanticizing about a movie style bug out to the mountains are just accelerating their own death. |

The "hills" are about 0.4 miles from my house. I suppose I'd walk, take a bike, or ride a horse there. Some of my caches are within walking distance but I also have backpacks and a couple of bikes. Ammo wise I figure 80-120 rounds ought to be enough in a pinch. The stench of the dead bodies after a while serving as a warning. |
