Got the tree out if the attic, all the kids are going nuts ready to hang some ornaments.  It's a pre-lit tree with three sections that plug into each other.  The lights on the bottom and top work but the middle section is dead.  There is current going through the middle strand in order to light the top section, but the lights in the middle won't light up.

I can get a new one, but my kids are going to be crushed if they can't decorate tonight.  Any ideas?

Contacts are probably messed up.

Look carefully at the joints. As in, take it back apart.

There's a bad bulb in the middle section. Good luck finding it.

I replaced 87 bulbs in the middle and no luck, got pissed off and quit.  Going to buy a strand tomorrow.  Wasted a couple of hours.
