I think it is a counterweight of some kind for a large scale but I'm not having any luck finding another like it on the web.  Weighs about 30Lbs.




Picked it up today at the recycler, the guy just let me take it for nothing since steel prices are so low right now.  He said he was glad to have it gone, he's been tripping over it for ever.




I have no idea what I'll do with it, the handle is too small to use it as a "Kettlebell"  I'll probably put it in my garage so I can trip over it for a few years.  It will make a good boat anchor I guess.

Well after some more research and input from others it looks like this may be a prison restraint ball from a ball and chain.  It looks like there are lots of different varieties out there, and different sizes of this style.




Whatever it is, I seem to be growing more attached to it.

No, no....that's a Kingsford Patented Hamburger Smasher.   We had one of those in a kitchen I worked in- it did a great job, but we had to replace the prep table every couple weeks.
