Ordered my kid a camera from amazon 8 days ago.

Still hasn't shipped.

Wife asked if we should sign up for Amazon Prime

I don't know much about it.

How does the streaming TV content compare to Netflix ?

What does ARFCOM say ???

I like it.

2 Day shipping, decent prices. Can stay in basement.

IMO worth it.  I order from Amazon a lot though.  I like the streaming video selection, too.  The Man in the High Castle is excellent, for example.

Same here, we order at least a couple times a month. I'd rank the movie/TV selection about the same as Netflix overall but that's just a bonus for us.

100% worth it, no question.  I'd say the streaming content is about the same as Netflix as far as movies go but you can get new releases quicker with Amazon, both put out pretty good series though.  I watch both Amazon and Netflix equally I'd say.

You do get two day, with prime but that still doesn't mean you will get your order in two days.  Some things gs yes, some things no.  I'm wanting on part of an order from last Monday that were prime items.

The streaming video is OK.  It seems to take a little longer for things to load up but the actual playback seems as good or slightly better than Netflix in terms of stoppages.  Some stuff is free but it seems like most everything g we want to watch there is extra.

We order a lot from Amazon over the year so it's worth it for us.

I agree with this statement.  It really depends if two day shipping is important to you or not. The streaming is just a bonus to me.

I've had it for about two years, don't use it for the shipping.

The streaming is par with Nextflix but w/ Amazon you also get streaming music, and they have quite a bit you can just stream free.

When you ordered it from Amazon.
Was it from a 3rd party or was it from Amazon or fulfilled buy Amazon?
Also what did the estimated delivery date say?

Prime can be worth it if you use it. I think they still have a free 30day trial so give it a go

I use Amazon Prime quite a bit.

We are getting ready to pull the plug on cable as soon as the Fire Stick I ordered on Black Friday shows up.

The only real TV watching we do anymore is "Family Movie Night" on Friday night or when someone is sick.

I've been meaning to look into their book subscription service.  You pay a monthly fee and have access to a large number of books but I'm not sure how deep their selection.

Also, stream Amazon Prime Music through my iPotato to my bluetooth on my truck stereo or through WiFi to my soundbar in the house.

It's probably worth it if you order from them frequently.  I also have the option of 2 hour delivery since they have a delivery center about 4 miles down the road from me.  I've used it twice.  Both orders were at my door in 20 minutes.

This.  Amazon is a store front for a lot of third party places.

If it's sold by amazon or fulfilled by amazon, it's going to ship quick.  If it's sold by someone else, who knows.  I just put an order in last night for something that might not ship until after christmas  .

The only problem with amazon prime is that it spoils you.

I think it's well worth the $80 a year or whatever it is now.  You get the free 2 day shipping and a bunch of free tv and music streaming.

I order a lot from Amazon, not having to wait until I have a larger order for little stuff is great. The video selection is pretty similar to Netflix, I feel like they have a slightly better selection of newer movies, but neither is perfect, and for the price, having both is a no brainer even if you have cable already (I work for a cable company, I get every channel there is for next to nothing, an extra $10-20 a month for added variety and choice is a bargain).

I find Prime to be a bargain, and while there are certainly horror stories out there, Amazon customer service is top notch. Over the many years I have had Prime I have had a few issues, and they have always taken care of them with a short phone call or chat. Prime membership also adds a lot of value to the Amazon Fire devices, I picked up one of the Fire tablets on Thanksgiving for $35, it is a damned nice tablet for $35 without Prime, with Prime it really gives you a lot for your money.

ETA: Nobody has mentioned Prime Music yet, it is another great feature, I work in the field and spend several hours a day in a van, I love the feature. I didn't see it as being a big deal when it was announced, but after using it for a while, I love it.

Worth it and if you have a .edu email in your family you can lose $20 off the standard price.

Pays for itself if you do any real online shopping.

The video stuff just is a cherry on top.

I used it twice today already.

Made two separate purchases that will both be here by Wednesday.

I have yet to order something from Prime and not have it show up by the date it states it will arrive by.

As well as the two day free shipping and included video streaming I also enjoy using the Amazon Prime Music service. Free streaming with no ads and you can listen to the same single song over and over again if you are so inclined. Not like Pandora where you can't specify songs.

The music library does seem to be more limited than say Spotify, but as an added bonus to having a Prime membership, I can't complain.

I ordered a tablet, won't ship until 12/23.

If stuff is not back ordered the Prime 2 day is GTG

Use the 30d trial under "my account" just be sure to cancel before the 30d in the same place if you don't plan on keeping it.

It's worth it.

Did you ordered through Amazon or a third party seller through Amazon?

I do all my christmas shopping using amazon prime. On top of that, my chase card is giving me 10% cash back on amazon stuffs.

Worth it for me since I order a lot of stuff online. I also got in with prime subscription sharing before they banned it so we have 3 accounts on the same prime membership.

Apparently it also includes their movie/video service, notifications on "Lightning deals" and the faster/free shipping... Apparently for about the same cost as what you pay for Netflix...

Might be worth signing up for if I drop Netflix.

My son ordered a product and does not have prime.  The product was eligible for prime shopping.  Well I ordered same thing and had it 2 days later.  Son waited another 2 weeks.  Some think this sucks but I like it.

Never had that experience except when buying from one of the vendors that sells on their site and ships from Hong Kong.

On Sunday morning I bought a new case for my iPhone. It arrived Sunday evening.

There's two +1 million square foot Amazon warehouses within five miles of my house ... fuck California taxes!

If you don't use the video and rarely order stuff from Amazon, the 2 day shipping is far cheaper, it only adds like $5-$7 to the order instead of $20.

Prime Pantry is great.  I get most of my non-perishables that way, and cheaper than the grocery store.

Shipping is $5.99 no matter how much the box weighs.

The only issue is you need to be careful about quantities.  I thought I ordered four bars of bath soap, but made a mistake and actually ordered four 12 packs of soap.  I'm gonna be clean for a very long time.

any time I see something I want, open the app in my phone. and its on its way in 3 minutes. Amazon ownes USPS so they get shipped delivered 2nd day every day 365. holidays sundays dont matter. Its there in 1-2 days.

I ordered a Xmas gift for my mother, if you arent in a hurry you can opt for slow ground shipping and they will give you a credit twards their food service (pantry) or something like that. I said why not I dont need it till Xmas so I got a $6 credit. and it was to be delivered by the 10th. It came next day. you cant beat amazon.

I do most of my shopping except groceries via Prime.  It's very worthwhile for me!

Prime Video is ok,  I rate free content a little less than Netflix.   But really, paying to rent a movie now and then isn't bad at all
Prime Music is simply awesome, far better than Pandora imho.  Streaming and lots of good free downloads as well.

One that I haven't seen mentioned is unlimited free photocloud storage.  Another nice perk,  any photo I take on my phone is automatically backed up to their cloud.
