Leonardo DiCaprio and all it seems like a kick-ass revenge/survival movie.
Set in the 1820s and shot with all natural lighting. Opens in January. Someone embed....It's worth it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1663202/ Likely a dupe as I suspect it appeals to many here. |
|
I heard that because of the shooting conditions and some of the inane decisions by the director the movie almost did not get made.

I read where DiCaprio slept in a animal carcass to get the look he/they wanted for some of the scenes. Quoted:
Going to be good. Remake of Man In The Wilderness. That's what it looked like to me too. |
There's another film, "The Hateful Eight", that uses '50s vintage 70mm Panavision equipment like was used in "Ben Hur" to recapture the old school feel of film.

I got to play with a bunch of hand tools that the production company purchased for use on screen. It will be interesting to see what shows up in the movie. Sooo...period looking axes, saws, that sort of thing? Basically, yes. I think they bought a scorp and a few adzes, also. They tools aren't 100% period correct, but they're close enough to not be able to discern any difference on screen. |

I heard they're going old school on this one and there will be an intermission. When's the last time anyone here saw a movie with an intermission? Probably never. I faintly remember intermissions as a kid. I'm getting old.

Ghandi was the last movie I saw that had an intermission. |

Ghandi was the last movie I saw that had an intermission. I'd forgotten about that one. Some of the older big tentpole movies in their day by big names had intermissions. Doctor Zhivago sticks in my mind, I think 2001 originally had an intermission or am I wrong on that one? Now they just chop the movie into two parts so they get a second admission ticket out of you ( Hunger Gamers, etc ) |

I'm going down to a survival school tomorrow to shoot some press interviews for the movie. The schedule looks like it will be fun: The following B-Roll Events/Interviews will be filmed: - Horse Trail Rides (1 Hour) - Guns of the Mountain Men (30-45 Minutes) - Tomahawks (30 Minutes) - Archery (30 Minutes) - Traps and Trap Setting (30 Minutes) - Wild Edibles & Water Purification (30 Minutes) - Primitive Fire Starting (45 Minutes) - Primitive Camping (15 Minutes) - Mountain Man Stories (20 Minutes) - Blacksmithing (15-20 Minutes) |

No bear raping in the book, but it was a great read about Hugh's journey by Michael Punke. Highly suggest it, and will definitely be seeing this one. Of course not. 99% of these incidents go unreported.

Drudge is reporting that the movie features an explicit bear rape scene, I kid you not. http://i.imgur.com/0qTuAWV.png?1 wut |

I heard Drudge's bear rape story on the radio this morning and went a-searchin' on the internet for verification. There are several sites with articles/posts by people who state they have seen advanced screenings who are refuting Drudge's claim regarding ursine sexual depravity. Several said that the bear is a female.

Quoted: If anyone is curious as to what "revenant" actually means (as I was): noun a person who has returned, especially supposedly from the dead. Revenants in stories are also usually out for revenge. For instance, Brandon Lee's The Crow is an example of a revenant. |

Ghandi, Lion of the Desert are the two I remember seeing with an intermission. I might see it, but I have no respect for Tarantino, so we shall see. |

The trailer had me sitting on the edge of my seat - I am pretty excited about it. I am familiar with the source material and am glad the are making a movie about it - as exaggerated as it will likely be. |
