IL2 cliffs of Dover is great but there's also IL2 bsttle of Stalingrad and bsttke of Moscow. We are waiting on the pacific theater to come out at some point. DCS has WWII aircraft but is working on DCS WWII as a sim of its own.

You can go to our Facebook page for that. Bss214.com

We've been flying together for 15 years. About half of us fly gor a living. Some are prior mil pilots turned airline. Two of us are current F18 pilots, one of them is a top gun instructor then a few of us are only airline pilots.

I have 500 in my stick and throttle alone. lol then there's trackir and pedals. A few of the guys have over $1000 in there stick and pedals. Where war thunder is an arcade game that anyone can fly, dcs is a simulator and IL2 is leaning more toward a sim but not quite up to dcs standards. If you enjoy flying you'll enjoy the ones I mentioned but there's no crosshairs on the ground to show where your bombs are going to hit and you'll have to keep your engine within its operating limits or it won't last very long. You're welcome to join us anytime if you'd like.

ETA actually we have current screenshots on our Facebook page. The sites pics are older. Search for bss_214 on Facebook. The guy that started it was a navy pilot, if you were wondering where the name came from.

I need to go back through a few replays and grab one or two. I am hooked on this game, mainly focusing on Britain in Realistic (Waiting for the Brit Tanks to actually be released.)

And half price on steam currently. I should go back to IL2, im still peeved at warthunder after my ban. Yes, i was involved in the great 1.53 bomber glitch fest. Man that 2 hours was a rush. I earned something like 6 tier IV aircraft. Only for a bit though, got banned and account was roll-backed.

I like warthunder for the scope of its aircraft. yes there are many things wrong with it. but its not like you can fly a bearcat, or a tempest in IL2BOSG.

You know Vidar? I am almost positive I've seen your name around, maybe in IL2 or DCS. We are getting together tonight for a "turkey shoot". Our normal nights are Friday and Saturday night starting at about 10 EST. V's schedule at work has him flying on the weekend for his airline this month, although he's off this week. Get the TS info off the website and jump on.

Yes, Rise of Flight and IL2 Battle of Stalingrad and Moscow has mouse control. They did it to get steam people in game. I will tell you that it will be damn near impossible to taxi, fly or fight without actual controls and if you do manage to get up, you are going to be an easy target, if you aren't constantly stalling on top of having no way to manage your engine other than with the keyboard. There's no easy/arcade mode to help.

Let me put it to you this way, you are at a disadvantage in war thunder if you fly with anything other than a mouse and keyboard. It's all over the forums. The planes are so dumbed down that a five year old can do. You may be able to fly a "tempest" but the only thing about it like a tempest are the looks. There is no engine management, specific speeds that are real for flaps or gear and the flight model is awful, not to mention the generic damage model. IL2 BOS is a lot better and dcs is even better than BoS.

Who do you fly for?
A small environmental testing company on the gulf coast. Admittedly I'm in the early stages of my career because of some medical setbacks.

As for the mouse and keyboard being an advantage. Yes some of the controls are a little easier in a limited scope, but my situation  awareness is twice-3 times as hard to maintain. Remember, if I want to look around I have to stop controlling my pitch entirely. That means guessing where I need my stick, then putting it there, THEN look around for the enemy. If I'm in a dogfight that means taking my eyes OFF of my target to change my pitch rate then looking back and trying to find my target again. (I say pitch rate because I can adjust roll and yaw on the fly but not pitch

No, purely mouse and keyboard is not an advantage. It is a viable option. But not an advantage.
