So I have been looking a Remington 600 for some time now. Found one at a local gun show re-chambered from .222 to .223. How common is this and is there anything I could check for to ensure it was done properly besides chambering a .223 round? I know the 600's are hard to come by but I can't FO unless I know it is solid. So school me please on the 600 re-chambering and what not.

Know anyone who might loan you a go-no go gauge set?

That would be the only way, short of a range test.

Sucks they rechambered it. The mohawk in 222 is highly desired and one hell of a shooter.

But yeah you need a 223 go/no go guage. And a bore scope to see if the chamber was reamed correctly.

Gotcha. I wish it hadn't been re-chambered as well. My dad owned one growing up and I want to find him another so I obviously want it to be quality. I will look into the go/no-go and bore snake tools. Thanks guys.

I have a Mohawk in .243 that is one of my favorite deer rifles. Can walk all day and night with that thing and never get tired. I once spotted its big brother at a gun show in .308. Offered the guy $300 and he came back at $350. I walked on his offer and wish now I hadn't. Would have been another great deer rifle. Oh well.

I'd just pass on that rifle if it was me.
