Any of you guys have the Ram box on your pickups?  It's the toolboxes built into the side of the bed.  I just bought a 2013 and I'm wondering how watertight and durable these are.  I love everything else about the truck, just skeptical on this deal.

I was glad the truck I got didn't have them.

Seems like tool boxes built in truck beds is a bad idea that's been going on since the dawn of time.

Since I'm not running cows anymore it's more of a "go to town" truck, but I will pull a trailer with it a bunch and it's nice to have all my shit in the sides rather than under the seat.  It's a Megacab,so it has a box about the size of my Prowler's.

What type of trailer are you looking to pull?

I had a co-worker who got one b/c the dealer told them it was large enough for a 5th wheel, but when they went to install it, it wouldn't fit and the dealer told them, oh well not our problem.

I didn't want them because my crew cab bed is already small. They arent very wide but I'm sure they are
water proof.

Just a couple gooseneck trailers.

Since you already own it, put some newspaper in the boxes and hose them down with a hose for a test.

Gooseneck should be fine then. It's the fifth wheel hitch that's an issue.

I wouldn't mind having them since I don't need the extra width. As long as a sheet of plywood fits.

Yes waterproof. Most of the people I talk to on a daily basis order the rifle racks for the inside of the ram box.

Mine haven't leaked yet - and they are just as full of misc. crap as a normal toolbox would be.

It is easier to find stuff in them though.

Don't get the gunracks.  I made a set thinking it was the coolest idea ever, until I realized it was a pain in the ass to get out and get your rifle out when you needed it.

Well hell, I can be no help.

Does it effect your gas mileage?

I have them on my work truck.  No leaks.

They are a lot roomier than they look from the outside.

It does have lights in the boxes. Hmmm...

They're gay, Jim.

Kills your bed space on an already small bed... and looks dumb.

Same width as the wheel wells.  And takes up less space than a tool box.  How exactly does it look dumb?  It has a tonneau cover, so I guess no one can see that it's dumb.

I didn't *think* you'd put expensive guns in there  and hose them down but hey, this is GD, so I figured "let's make sure".

Walked around my local dealership, all of the Ram boxes had a ton of condensation in them.

Edmunds did a test when they first came out, they put a hole in one by having a trailer hitch bouncing around in there.

I have my doubts you'll ever be able to put a cover on the bed, but I could be wrong.
