[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Spectre (Page 1 of 2)

We were invited to a special viewing of the film, courtesy of Omega. It's the twenty year anniversary of Omega becoming Bond's watch. Coincidentally, my Seamaster is twenty years old. Bought four months before Goldeneye was released.

" />

We enjoyed the film very much. It's everything you expect in a Bond film: trains, planes, beautiful scenery, beautiful women, guns, fast cars, more guns, things blow up and the bad guys lose. If you're a fan of Bond films and like what Craig has been doing with the character, you'll like this one.

I'm going to see it just for Monica Bellucci.

How was she, OP?

[#3]
Monica Bellucci is a classical beauty. She's 51, and that's evident in her face, but it doesn't make her any less beautiful.

The film is PG-13, so there's no racy bits exposed. The movie does just fine as is.

I love my Seamaster, but I never get any cool Bond schwag or pre screenings.

It must be because I chose the black dial instead of blue.

I was stoked to see this but after seeing some of the mixed reviews, I'm not so sure now.  Just reading from the production notes about all the re-shoots, it sounds like they had issues getting this one out the door.
It'll be interesting to see if it beats MI Rogue Nation, which I really dug.

Good babysitter (rarity), great steak dinners (not often enough)...

Good thing we did fandango, it was sold out and packed. IMAX made a decent movie much better. Details of this and that normally lost in a movie, sounds like you wouldnt believe...
Spectre? Meh. Had a lot of recurring story lines that reminded you of yesterbonds. No hot steamy scenes, old lady (smoking hot!) much hotter than main bond girl? Really?
Overall disappointment. Wife was a lot more satisfied than I.

Fucking anti gun phaggot threw his weapon at the end? Really??? Bond my ass!

I was impressed. This one definitely had more of a Spy Bond feel to it and less of a traditional action  flick feel. Love that gadgets are making appearances again too

I think the really basic symbolism of what the gun is went over your head. It was used that way throughout the movie.

I look at the complaints people have (i.e. in another thread someone was complaining about the car chase in Skyfall...really?) and realized i think for some reason people just don't like Daniel Craig in the Bond role.  I've seen all the Bond/Craig movies (except SPECTRE which I may see today) and find Craig to be the best Bond since Connery...I may even prefer him over Connery.

No overabundance of silly gadgets, no over the top witticisms, etc..Someone in another thread that Craig is most like the Bond in the Fleming books...

may need  a spoiler aletr  tI tried not to reveal anything

it bothered me too. I counted he t lost or gave up 3 Walther ppks & 1 sig226  I have no clue what happened to the mp7

Over all a great bond film I did not care for the subplot I don't need to knowwhy the LVillian hates bond it seemed they did it to tie the weak films (Quatnum & casino royal ) tie into this one there was no need to do so

the blonde on the train in the gown

I have never cared for Craig as bond - it was nice to see him finally own the role & be Bond not some posing ass hat.

Ome thin that did occur to me while watching specter was that in royal & solstice nond had no real freinds or colleges, in this one he did & it made craig's portrail  better than before.  .

Nope. CR and SF were both great movies. QoS and this POS were both terrible. Objectively terrible.

I actually like Craig as much as I liked Brosnan in the role; they're my favorite Bonds by far.

This movie was far and away the worst 007 film to date. Boring, boring, boring. I literally dosed off several times and noticed the lady sitting next to us doing the same. Several people walked out mid-way through the film. Save your money.

ETA: I liked Daniel Craig in his previous Bond films, but you can tell he's phoning it in at this point and is done with the character.

craig played this film very much like brosman, the plot line recalled several of moore's films

My issues with Craig  or the writers of his movies

1. he gets his ass kicked too much& bleeds too much when he does.  especially in Qos

2 why is bond falling in love with the girls this simply isn't bond. the whole back end of CR & front end of Qos were about bond's love ... that's bull.in fact that's bourne strory line

3 Craig ties too hard to come across as a cold stone killer but to me he comes off as an asshole connery, dalton. Moore, ect all show bond as a man who loves the work.and has a sense of duty

I liked it. It was longer then it needed to be, but at no point did it feel like it wasn't being a Bond movie. There were, perhaps, sections that could have been compressed or eliminated. Craig continues to be the most subtle turn of a character that was never intended to be subtle. I'm a huge fan of the direction and feel of this Bond, especially after the last few Broson movies.

Action was top notch, though as always it's hamstrung by the PG-13 rating. Plenty of bad guys get capped, plenty of cars get trashed, plenty of buildings blow up. It just feels somewhat sanitized. Craig is still just inside the age range where he is believable as a seasoned veteran of MI-6 but still young enough to look and act like an effective killer. Another movie or two and I bet he'll start to look a bit pudgy. Oh well, there's always another actor in the wings...

Speaking of looks, Skyfall was a great looking movie but the opening action sequence in Mexico city for this begins with a long single take walk through a festival that blew me away. It just looked fantastic the whole way through.

I wish they had been a little more aggressive with editing the screen play down, eliminating some of the early sub-plot and expanding a bit more on the main villian, but hey, more scenes of Bond traveling to exotic locals and blowing shit up didn't make for a bad movie, just a long one.

you realize they never based more than 15 minuets of a  singe lfilm on that& never was it the driving motivator for the character.

Quote from Daniel Craig

I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other. That’s a simple fact. I’ve seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me. Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that’s what’s scary about them.

I will watch this one on a low cost format. Probably NetFlix
