A few weeks ago I was messing around in the garage and noticed a few wasps flying just outside and above the garage door. Thought nothing of it until I went out in the driveway and noticed there was a freaking swarm of bees going in/out under the flashing just below the soffit vents. Now at my house, there are a ton of huge grass/wolf/whatever-demon-spiders that like hanging around the porch/garage/deck so I've launched many successful wars against them with bifenthrin and cypermethrin. Scorched earth. I already had a batch of bifen mixed so I waged war on the wasps; they won, it did nothing.
The next day, the swarm was significantly worse, probably 50+ flying around at any point. I mixed a batch of cyper, got the stepladder, wrapped myself in a few layers of clothing and drenched those fuckers. Nothing. I went inside defeated. An hour or so later I come back out and see dead wasps all over the driveway. Still a ton swarming, but lots of dead. As the days passed, more and more dead wasps. Two weeks later and I'm still seeing semi-paralyzed wasps dropping off the house clinging to life. Now both times I sprayed it was windy, so I probably gave myself 6 different forms of cancer and TB, but damnit I won. tl;dr - buy Cyper WP, kill all the things. |

I've used plain soapy water in a pump sprayer to kill them when there are a lot buzzing here and there. It's not as fast as RAID but it definitely ruins their day quickly if they get soaked. It's just harder to really get them soaked with it sometimes. Still, it's cost effective.
At my play property they hang around the silver trailer roof. I think they see it as possible water. They hover for a bit land and then fly off, but it attracts them from far a wide on a sunny day. I fucking hate wasps. Hate them. |

Cypermethrin is my go to for any crawling or flying varmit that needs killing. It doesn't have knock down power though. We have a lot of black beetles at this time of the year and the first foot inside my garage door looks like a crime scene. LOL......My garage floor murders thousands of beetles every year. They walk in and go legs up before they get to the other side. OP, those sprays will kill them if you can get it on them or onto their nests. It just doesn't kill them instantly. I have a bunch of wasps nesting in my eaves and have yet to figure out how to effectively keep them out because I can't get any spray up onto their nests. If you can actually see the nest, just go get some wasp and hornet spray and hose it down in the evening when they are all nested up for the night. |

Tag for info... I have a nest under the floor of my wooden shed... tried spraying a whole can of spray up under there... killed a bunch, but there are still a ton swarming around there. Tried a bug bomb, but those don't work very well turned on their side. My next thought was to dig down enough to get the bug bomb can upright and spraying under the edge beam of the floor. Might have to do this opposite of their entrance to avoid getting stung all to hell. I know these are not intended for such small spaces though. ![]() |

My knockout roses were getting destroyed in a matter of days. Cyper mixed really strong killed the beetles instantly. Give bifen XTS a try. It's more of a repellent than cyper. When I spray bifen along my foundation it looks like a horror film with all the bugs crawling out of the ground. Cyper has never bothered me, but bifen has took my breath away a few times. |

I had a similar problem with Yellow Jackets. I did not realize the magnitude of the issue until a couple years after killing them off and we put a new roof on. The nest was truss to truss wide, about 2 feet long and filled the space between trusses to their full depth. Many full traps the preceding years. |
