On an older computer I had, there was a little program called sound recorder. It gave me the ability to insert and mix different WAV files. It also let me adjust volume if I remember correctly.

Now I have a much newer machine and it too has a program called sound recorder but this program wont do crap compared to what the old one did. About all it will do is let me record and save a sound.

I am looking to mix some sound effects for halloween. Anybody know of any free programs that will let me mix WAV files and save them? I am not super puter savy so easy to use is good.

Thanks

Audacity.  Google it.  It's free.

Free for life with  limited use  - that is, not free for a month or for 30 uses, but the caveat is you have to save your file and close the program after a number of edits.

I have owned it (paid version) since the mid 1990s. I get free updates for life.
