I've recently had any number of "experts" point out to me that my choice of concealed carry pistol and holster is not the optimum setup. At any time it was suggested that I either got with the following... 1) Taurus Judge (I shit you not) 2) A four inch K Frame revolver 3) Glock 43 4) Kel Tec 9mm something or another had a bunch of letters and numbers Glock 43 guys was almost on target, but somehow was convinced carrying anything Glock in his pocket without a holster was a good idea. The Kel Tec guy liked them because they were cheap and he could have several just laying around within easy reach. The dumb ass with the Judge concealed his under a tactical photographer's vest. K Frame guy, well, he is not one I would ever want shooting at me that's for sure. Taurus Judge guy also told me that my Glock 26 wouldn't be reliable until I put some brand of aftermarket trigger in it and had a laser mounted. And that I should only use 19 mags in it. He read it somewhere no doubt. |

The best handgun for concealed carry is the handgun you carry all of the time.
It doesn't matter who made it, what chambering it is in, what kind of ammunition it holds, how much ammunition it holds, or what kind of a holster (if any) you use, if the damn thing is sitting in your gun safe at that terrible instant when you actually need it to defend yourself, no matter who made it, what design it is, the ammo or holster you have, all of it is a useless junk. |

Here is a pretty good critique of the article in the OP. |

The only thing from the critique that I would disagree with is this: Snub-nose revolvers are also experts’ guns. It takes a lot of practice to shoot a snub well. Most new shooters looking for a small carry gun would be better off with a mid-size semi automatic pistol than a snub revolver. I've been carrying a S&W 642 for somewhere around 10 years. I've shot well with it in training classes and on the range, and I don't consider myself to be an expert. Also, if you're carrying a firearm for self defense, then you should be doing a lot of practicing. |

That's what I'm carrying, 9mm P239 with the Remington Golden Saber 9MMCs. That or my S&W 642 with Speer Gold Dots. Quoted:
