Anybody get your letter and get a buyback offer?

I am planning on driving over today to see what they offer, but I don't want to waste my time if they are low balling.  I get a free Wally gift card of an undetermined amount for my time.

Recall is for various things, tie rods, steering mounts, rear suspension, air bags, but I am unclear on the specific details/year.

Mine:  2012 Ram 1500 Hemi 4x4 quad cab.

Lol. I do recall they were having issues with pitman arms snapping. Seems dodgefiatdaimlerchrysler is having no problems fucking up 60 year old, tried and tested steering components.

I would take the buyback. But I  hate everything dodge after 1990.

Interesting. I think my buddy has a Ram around that year. He just got an alignment and they told him the front right was all out of wack.

Had a buyback on my Dakota back it'll the day, they payed full retail price for the truck and all aftermarket parts if you had receipts.

From what I've heard, offers to buy back were a bit below KBB trade-in.  Not totally unreasonable if you hate the truck and want to get rid of it quick and easy, but not great if you're just looking to capitalize from their fuck ups and get something new.

My brother's 2011 Sport Quad came in around $3K below bluebook trade-in value, so not that great.

I had my recall work done on my 2010 TRX Crew, so I was not eligible, which is fine as I really like the truck.

I have called about it..............the local dealership knew nothing about it, but offered to trade me a new truck for mine. Still havent heard anything. I'm sure they wont want to offer anything reasonable for it

I've never heard of this before.  Is this just another way for dealerships to increase their used inventory and sell you a new vehicle?  Essentially veiled tactic at what usually happens when people buy a new car?

NHTSA ruling/agreement.   This is to cost Fiat/Chrysler over $80 Million in fines and an additional $20 Million if they don't comply with the terms of the buyback/recall.  Over a half million vehicles must be bought back.  They had previous recalls that did not fix the issues.

It is true that my local dealer is hard up for used inventory.  The ruling says they must fix the defects before resale, and I don't think they have a fix available.

Yeah, I know............and I was expecting it, but I called to inquire if they had received any info about the buy back program after a friend got the call about buying his back. I dont want any more Chrysler products and declined the trade offer

There are lots of recalls covering various years and at least 8 different serious issues, many of which resulted in either death or serious injury and FIRE.

I went to the dealer today.  The fact is they don't know what specific recall is for any given vehicle.  It is a total goat fuck.  I point blank asked the guy if my truck is going to kill me.  He was without words.

So, they gave me a $5 dollar Wally card after I kicked them in the balls over it.

They offered me $20K cash/check on the spot, no bullshit, and it seemed they wanted the truck pretty bad. Yes, I have that in writing, good until the weekend.  Their bluebook is updated weekly, but I doubt this will change much.

So, without any bullshit, tax, license, anything, my truck cost was $27K in Oct 2012 and has 47K on the clock, a 4" Rancho lift self installed, just over $1K in BFG Radial ATs with 15K on them, and 17" Mickey Thompson wheels on it at a cost aroud $600.  The stainless Flowmaster Thunder Series exhaust was $450 self installed.

Should I FO?  I think I want to FO!  Push me over the edge, fellow arfcommers!

You can probably hold out for a little more if the used truck market by you is anything like it is out here.

Having said that, if you can't figure out that you need to get rid of a piece of shit, then I don't think anything we can say will help change your mind.

That hacker stuff is bogus. It was an article that said in theory they could control you vehicle.  We have and 2015 Durango and Ram and I'm not doing that
USB chip recall.  Some people have complained after the update their heat steering wheel and seets aren't as warm and their touchscreen blinks.

I'll pass on doing that one.

2009 Dodge 3500, I got the letter a couple weeks ago called the number on the letter and talked to a guy from the recall agency not Dodge.  I was offered a buyback, fair market value, $2000 trade in + what my truck is worth on a new vehicle or fix the recall.
I picked up my truck this afternoon after being in their shop since Tuesday.
The first recall was from I believe 2011 I took it in and they said "Yeah you need it fixed but we don't have the parts will call when they come in".  I never got a call.
Second recall was on another issue and that's when I called this time.
I didn't take them up on their offer due to a fair amount of extra's I had put on and with only 30K miles  doubt I would have made anything remotely what it's worth, so brought the truck home and will live with it.  Supposed to get a $100 gift card for my efforts though.

Have owned Chevy, Ford, and Dodge trucks.  Dodge are hands down the best, and it's not even close.  When I was still buying gassers, the Hemi is a solid, reliable great engine.  Had no problems with mine in 140k.  Now I have a Cummins.  It is the best by far of the diesel light duty trucks.

I just got a recall notice for my 2011 Tacoma. Seems one of the leaf springs can break free and puncture the fuel tank They don't have a fix for it yet either.

Pisses me off that my 04 had nothing but problems with death wobble and I dumped a ton of cash into it and no recalls for that year.  I eventually updated to a 2011 steering linkage and never a problem again.

Also that fucking heater door issue(s) was resolved last weekend with me cutting the shit out of the underside of the dash.

I like my truck but it pisses me off at the same time.  UNfortunatly they all have their issues but I need a 3/4 to tow the camper

Try putting it in 4wd on pavement (or rain or hard packed snow) and see if your steering still wobbles when you accelerate.
