Outed. You're over 40. Ask me how I know. I know the rug looks like something in an old folks home, but no. Wife picked it. Da plane. Da plane! I had one in the 70s. It was awesome. Got me into rc planes before I was 12. |

I spent a lot of time playing around with the c/g and tapering trailing edges to get it to go as far as possible. I actually r/c hacked one pretty good back in college that flew remarkably well. Now I have an impressive assortment of r/c toys, still wondering how B-1-bish I could pull off with a $5 foamie. |

Sure it starts out with a $5 foamie but leads down a road that ends with $2000 sailplanes, or worse yet, jets. ![]() |

Quoted: I had tons if them and I am 24... along with the balsa gliders with the rubber bands I would buy at gas stations. And oh man, the first air hogs... I spent a lot if time with that sucker! The newer ones they have actually done a good job with. Some of the "toy" level r/c planes coming out of China right now are nothing short of amazing, considering how they started. |

Yeah, the pumped up air ones. I had the first remote control one too... it kinda sucked. The air tank models were fun as hell and would go a very long way. |

| Anyone remember the Squadron brand (I think) foam & balsa gliders? They were smaller, like maybe 10" long. The fuselage was made of balsa sandwiched between thin foam and the wings & tail were flat foam. They had all the cool military planes. The graphics were realistic and very good for what they were. I remember playing with them in the late '70s, early '80s. |

My dad got me one of those big foam planes for my 6th or 7th birthday in the late 70's. Decided that throwing it by hand was getting old, so he ripped up an old tractor inner tube and rigged up a cool slingshot launcher for it. Set it up in the front yard, pulled it WAY back and let her rip...
Plane did a huge, high loop over the roof and crashed through the kitchen window on the back of the house. Mom was not amused. But I thought it was awesome! |

I had one that my Dad and I strapped a ton of bottle rockets to. The problem was, we didn't think it through, only half of them went off, and the thing took off spinning and blew the wing off. Good times. I used a model rocket engine. Damm near got decapitated by Styrofoam. |

That poor Radian. I don't even see how you do that by accident. |

Quoted: I fly these now. http://www.twistedhobbys.com/TH-32-EPP-Extra-Slick-RCF-TH-Extra-Slick-32.htm This is one of my favorites. Built out of the same material as the foamie plane in OP, but a tad bit faster. It has been scientifically proven to fly this one and not giggle like a schoolgirl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qW6qkNs5E9o ![]() |

We bought those by the dozens in the early 80s. |
