I know nothing about it, but if it's night vision and works, I'd have put $50 at it too.

If you go there the night vision snobs will be happy to tell you that you wasted your money. That, cheap, crappy, night vision isn't better than nothing at all, that only the unaffordable best is good enough.

If the pics through various generation devices thread is accurate than I would agree with them.  However, I have never actually looked through any nods so there's that.

It's a Gen II tube, which is good enough for IDing and shooting targets. Don't expect to be able to see much in total darkness, you'll need illum of some kind for it to shine.

Invest in a good IR flashlight to help out on the really dark nights.

I still have my Gen 2 AN/PVS 5c's that are very effective. I use them regularly camping and ...GASP!!!..... Shoot while wearing them!  It's all about knowing your limitations and training with them regularly. I even have a Gen 2 monocular built around the PVS 5 tube and lenses. They aren't Gen 3 but they still get the job done.

I bet I can use my PVS 5's more effectively than someone with a Gen 3 setup that bought them and just turns them on for show and tell.

Show us on this PVS-14 (that can be had for the cost of one nice pistol or rifle) where the bad NVG snobs touched you.

Gen II is perfect for those that want to be able to see and shoot, but like you said knowing the limitations is a key factor with any night vision.

And I'm sure you can, but there are lots of us that will blow you out of the water with out Gen IIIs.

My dad got it at a garage sale, the guy wanted it for 100 bucks...my dad got it for 50 and just gave it to me so technically I got it for free.

I guess the guy worked for a bank and found it during a forcloser sale in an attic.

I'm sure there are people that can. I used alot of Gen 3 in the Army and prefer the PVS-14. As long as you know their limitations too, they aren't hard to work around the people with Gen 3. You have to use those weaknesses to your advantage. I would love to be able to get a good PVS-14, but budget won't allow for now. Understanding the weak points of all Generation NVG's and training, training, training is key.

It is pretty darn good, but the generic t-20 ir conversions for about $30 blow everything out of the water

Night vision? Pff, what are we, grade schoolers?

Integrated thermal / NVD is the only way to go. If you cant do that, get the fuck out.
