You never know when a business trip to Plattsburgh might catch you in the middle of the zombie apocalypse ( or crazed murderers digging out of prison). Just like the Japanese peasant defending himself with stupid nunchucks, you might be called on to Fight The Man (or the undead) with the Weapons of the People. You aren't going to find many Novekse's with short dots in caves in the woods, but you'll find these in every farmhouse and trailer park in America.

How many kids today can even run ( is that the new word?) a double action revolver (I can't hit shit with mine). Of course I'm not talking to you crusty old fat farts with your Trump trucker hats and shoot me vests fingering your police surplus 1950s .38s, I'm talking about to those of you still young enough to foolishly have hope that survival is worth the trouble.

I grew up learning how to run the fuck out of a Smith wheel gun from my old-school cop father.

"It's all in the determination."

I don't carry a wheel gun, but I'll always have it.

Also, you forgot the 7mm Mag pencil-barreled  bolt gun with a partial box of shells for "when the wheels come off."

Those three guns will take car of anything in Missouri. If you added a bolt action .30-06 or .270, you would have a redneck arsenal.

Then you would need a .22-250 to poach deer with your leaky stick shift truck.

I've got a friend with one of those!  First three shots - same hole.  Next three shots guaranteed to be within 12" of the original point of aim.  Magazine falls out of rifle after each shot.  Some $2000 custom German rifle that has to have every part custom machined for it . If he  could sell it for the money in it instead of what it was worth as a shooter, he could afford something useful.

Down here the stalwarts are:

.22lr Stevens (or some variant made by Stevens under another name) bolt-action
.410 Stevens shotgun
Random pistol
Random deer rifle of some kind
12ga shotgun

Those things just never go away - they just keep getting passed around and there are so many from the Depression era.

After WW2 neither of my grandfathers had any interest in fighting.  One only owned a. 22 which he gave me when I was six.  The other only owned hunting guns. He used a. 410 pump for HD later in life.
My dad only had a few Fudd guns until a few years ago.  Now he CCs a Shield.

Pretty simple to operate.....
No mags to buy....
No batteries to replace.....
Only 3 calibers to feed......

A friend who  passed a little over a year ago here had a plan.  He  made up backpack kits with ammo, first aid, a shotgun and a revolver  to hand to family/neighbors in a SHTF event.

Nothing fancy, (most came from pawnshops) but they were all in excellent  condition and worked. IIRC he had 10 sets. All 870's for the shotguns, revolvers were either  Smith mdl 10's or Ruger Security 6's.

His reasoning made a lot of sense. It was cheap, easily replaceable, and he could teach anyone to shoot both in about 30 minutes.

He never used them,  but I always thought it was an excellent idea.
