Terminator was a really good movie when it came out (IMHO). Not quite up there with Blade Runner, but very good stuff. Seeing the discussion of the film after all these years, since Arnold and "The Terminator" became such a phenomenon was interesting.
Terminator came out in '84, almost 30 years ago! We are not that far off from actual drones or similar robot combatants. But unlike Hollywood. I doubt they will walk around like humans, (hopefully) for a long time. Films of that era, like Red Dawn or Blade Runner certainly played into a fairly dark and cautious view of future events, unlike. say, the usually optimistic "good guy wins" of Star Trek. ETA: time flies when you get older. |
