I would like a GoPro or some type of reasonably good camera I can mount in the dash and record a weeks worth of driving.
I don't want to buy a hundred thousand SD cards to store everything. Couple questions: 1) How do you manage storage? Can you record straight to a portable hard drive? Where or how to you store all your footage without using a fistful of SD cards? 2) Can I power the GoPro with car power via 12v? |

It will not record when hooked to a computer. |

Quoted: I've been out of the helmet cam game since the original GoPro days, but if Contour is still making camera's they are worth looking at. I liked mine better than my GoPro and used it for my autocross racing. The new GoPro Sessions is a small form factor camera (1 1/2" square) with singe button operation. |

Was that because of the single button operation? The new GoPro Sessions is a small form factor camera (1 1/2" square) with singe button operation. Quoted:

I'm admittely not up to date on the latest GoPro offerings. With the contour I pushed the slide forward and it was recording. This was simple on my autocross/ski/motocross helmets, and while wearing gloves. With the GoPro I had to remove my helmet and look for the light to make sure. With how much electronics have improved since then, I imagine they have probably worked this out. |

Check out the mobius action cam. Loop recording, motion detection etc. and a lot cheaper than a gopro so you dont worry about leaving it in place. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile This may be exactly what I need. Thank you for that suggestion. I didn't really want to pay $500.00 for all the stuff for a gopro. |

Why do you want a weeks worth of boring driving? Use a loop, and when something worth saving happens, hit the button to save the last 5, 10, 15 min or whatever Ah, come on! Who doesn't want to watch a youtube video of 8 hours of west texas highway driving? The serious answer is when I'm done, I'll distill it all down into a "Our road trip" video. |

My method would still do that, and pre edit out the boring parts
