Tried Firehouse Subs today.

I think I had what is the Hook and Ladder?

Kinda pricey for what you get but not a bad sandwhich at all.

Our lunch crew used to hit them weekly.  Good subs, and the hot sauce collection was a bonus.

I need to get another bottle of the Sorensen's datil pepper sauce for home goodness.

Not bad at all. Started in my home town, by a guy who used to manage a local spot called The Loop. I bump into the founders occasionally at lunch. Nice guys. They give a lot of money to charity. If you ever need a good bucket, they sell their pickle buckets for 3 bucks and that money goes to charity.

They make good stuff- I have had a couple bottles and actually won a sampler pack at a Christmas party.  The Sorensen's pepper sauce Firehouse sells is pretty mild and more like a steak sauce, which goes great on roast beef sandwiches.  (Along with a healthy dose of Beaver hot horseradish!)

They are not in my core rotation, but they are in the rotation.  I usually get the Italian served fully involved with the pickle.

i grew up in s philly,so its hard for me to eat
any "sub". its a friggin hoagie....
anything else is a glorified subway.
however....i have eaten at a firehouse "subs"
and for a sandwich it aint horrible.it just makes me want a
primos hoagie or a tony lukes chicken cutlet with red gravy and sharp provolone
or a steak wit.

Pretty good italian sub.

I prefer Jersey Mike's.

Also, Hero sandwich is best Firehouse sandwich.

Yes but they don't call them that.
Medium is 8", large is 12".

There is no small that I'm aware of.

Firehouse here rocks!

After reading how great they were here, I tried one in Warrington VA. I thought it sucked and would choose Subway over them anytime.

That is all I have ever had from there.

Their meatball and new york steamer subs are awesome.

Why would you put hot sauce on a sub?
8/27/2015 10:33:59 PM EDT
[#30]
Well Subways around here are pretty sad so hearing people saying they aren't as good fills me with foreboding about the sandwiches.

That said the only time I was in one I got (I think ) was the chopped salad and it was really good.  But that might have been a fluke.  A one visit isn't enough to make a good rating.

As far as the steak goes, there is a big difference between steak that is cooked on the grill in front of you, and pre cooked steak that is heated up in the microwave in front of you.

best advice i can give on firehouse is eat it there.

they steam the meats which if left wrapped for more than 5 minuted starts turning the bread to mush.

The funny thing about firehouse is that it always seemed to me to be just a re-branded Larry's Giant Subs. The sandwiches are called different things but for the most part, they are the same.
